After Getting my own MC #'s Ive been Pullin for Prime Logistics Division.
I got no complaints. They keep me rolling as hard or as light as I want. I get home whenever I want without any hassles at all.
I usually roll 3 weeks and take a week off and still pay all my bills and truck payment, plus keep the wife happy in a nice house and a new SUV. She does work too. I don't have any idea how it is to be a company driver or lease op with them.

When I finished my first lease with Prime I thought about buying that old truck and going with Prime Logistics, but my wife wanted me in a new truck (cause she knows how #####y I get when I'm broke down), so I did another lease. Don't you get 80% of linehaul plus 100% fuel surcharge and fuel discounts too? Also, if you have own trailer, isn't it 89%?
I miss my old truck (#63467), I got 6.32mpg and did real well in it.

I've been in transportation as a company driver, manager, supervisor, etc, for 19 years. I am leaving a job i have held for 7 years to join prime as a contractor. I have done my background studies on the company, and they seem like a winner. One hint of advice to anyone interested in any job in this industry: WORK ETHIC!!! to be a success, you must have a good work ethic, and be willing to do whatever it takes, the rewards you will reap will be well worth your effort

Sliock 50, You ran 161000 miles, 3096 miles a week, 442 miles a day by yourself. I'm a Vietnam Vet, was in the Seabees and I thought I was tough. You must've bought new clothes every week and never washed your truck. I ran a 379 Pete, pulled aluminum Balt to Sea and Spokane to Chicago, steel back to VA and Md most of the time and running 75 out west only ran 131000 miles a year. I was worn out all the time. You banked how much? I dont believe it because in 3 years we had $29000 a year in tax deductions and figure it paid for my meals. If I haad to work that hard to make a living, I wouldnt.

My point exactly. I rarely run more than 110k a year. The hours you put in at 150k miles solo does not compute with the pay.

You can choose to believe it or not, your choice. You may not want to run that hard, your choice. I am retired USMC, 23 years service, so running hard is sort of a way of life. My plan is to run hard for 5 years, at which time that "extra" 20 grand or so a year over what others are making (the I don't want to work that hard crowd), will pay off my house and help me get ready for retirement. We all make our choices in life, and there you go.

If Prime is still the same company it used to be, I can definitely believe that they will let you get those miles. They will let you run yourself into the ground if you don't have the sense to stop.

I made great money with them in the early 90's, leasing a truck.

I tried them again in 2002, and was able to get all the miles I could handle, only problem was the freight paid about the same, but the cost of fuel seemed to be double, fixed costs seemed to be about double, including the weekly payment for a freaking fleet equipped freightliner. NO way I would EVER make that mistake again. Even if I was going to lease a truck again (which I won't), there are other options out there with the same freight rates, less Northeast and NYC, and trucks that are just as good for far less money.

In the early 90's, I recommended this company to everybody. Today, I wouldn't recommend it to any friend or enemy.

You said that was the gross amount? After payments, Insurance, fuel, and maintenance cost.... how much was it.

I made $59,700.00 gross last year, and net was $42.984.00, that was just federal taxes taken out, so I am curious with all the other cost your operation pays out, then what net did you approximately bring in?

My gross for 2006 was $204,000. I averaged 6.32 mpg; after paying fuel, truck lease, repairs etc., I banked $72,000. Now, I do not have medical taken out (retired military), taxes (I have a corporation and a CPA), so to be fair you have to consider that when comparing trucking outfits if you use my figures. I do not pay state income tax here in Texas, so my 'take home' would be more than most considering my circumstances. There is not one trucking company that fits all truckers. You have to find what fits your needs and wants. Can you make money at Prime? Of course. But you have to consider all that is required in order to do so (just like any other company). Most complainers I hear want the most money for the least work....nothing wrong with that....but don't tell me there is not money to be made out here, there is, some just don't want to work to get it. Simple as that. I do. We all make our choices and live our lives.
