Cool! I get an extra day at home!

I got home on thursday with a load to deliver early friday morning. Got that delivered and back home by 10 am and I had the rest of the weekend to kick back and relax...after all the honey-do stuff of course.

Friday afternoon, I got the text message that I had a pre-plan, so I went to the truck to check it out. It was a short load for P&G that picked up the next day and delivered on the 25th, 4 days later. Now when I say short load, it was only 150 miles total. So I called to find out what the story was with this load. I was told that since it was a preloaded trailer, I could pick it up anytime so I didn't need to interrupt my hometime, and the delivery window was actually from the 21st to the 25th, so I had plenty of time. I was also told this load was probably a load to get me back to the Columbus area to get me a Sears load. So I said ok and accepted the load.

One of the rules with the Sears account is that we need to call the planner every sunday morning to check in and verify our plans or whatever. So I called her this morning and the first thing she did was remove me from that load and put me on a Sears load going from Columbus to Elizabethtown, KY with 2 extra stops. That's a bit better. I kinda had a feeling she would pull me from that first load.

So here I sit, relaxing for another day. I really needed it too. That last time out I was out for 3 1/2 weeks. It gets really exhausting being out that long.

    Be safe out there!

That's excellent! How do you have that set up where you get a text message? Is that an option somewhere in the QC?

You need to sign in to the kiosk at the terminal, click on the payroll tab, then scroll down the options to find the text messenging opt-in. Once you are signed up with it, you will get notices when you get a pre-plan or something similar, such as if your dm accepts a load for you, they actually send the pre-plan to you again, so you will get a notice.

Also, it doesn't tell you what the load is. It only lets you know that a pre-plan has been sent to your truck.

Theoretically yes. But I have tried to access it from my laptop at home and it won't always load that page, so, when I need to, I do it from the terminal. But you can try it if you want.

That is really cool thanks for the info. I don't see that option yet but I just got off the mentor truck Tuesday and don't have my truck assignment yet. I'm sure that's why I don't see it yet. Thanks though I'll be using that feature, very cool.

    Wyldfyur and Texas-Nana Thank this.

I don't think it should matter if you just got off the mentors truck or not or if you have a truck yet.

I just checked on the kiosk here at the terminal (btw, I'm sitting at the Columbus terminal right now with a short Sears load heading out early tomorrow morning), and the procedure for the text messaging goes like this:

First: you have to log-in using your driver code (duh)
2nd: click on the "Payroll" box
3rd: click on the "Update Your Info" box
4th: click on the "Update your info" link
5th: scroll down to the bottom and click on the "Opt-in Text" link, then follow the directions.

Sorry I missed you BigT. As it is, I'm back in Columbus again today, and I just left this morning!

I know this is only my first week on the Sears account, but if this week is any indication of how it will be, I won't be with it for long. The first load wasn't too bad. Had to leave the house early monday morning to get to Columbus to pick up the load, then head to Kentucky for the first of 3 stops. Everything went ok on this trip, no major issues other than they give you no room for errors between stops. This trip was good for about 400 total miles approximately and I finished in Elizabethtown, KY, a bit south of Louisville. The next load picked up in Indy and delivered in Lewisburg, TN, south of Nashville, a quick run up I65, then a long run back down I65, another approximately 400 miles total.

The next load picked up in Springfield, TN, back up I65 and T-called in Columbus and I think that was about 300 miles total. So far, I guess it doesn't sound too awefully bad I guess, but then I get todays load. I arrived in Columbus at 1500 yesterday and still had a few hours left on my clock. Not much, but enough I could have at least picked something up. What I got was a load picking up at 5:48 with the first stop in Georgetown, OH at 8am....and it's exactly 2 hours away. I had to pick up the load early to make the delivery on time. The total miles for this run was only 125. Not even orth the hassles of the time frame. Then the next load the give me is picking up here in Columbus again, at 20:00, which is outside of my clock. Talked to my DM and she said I can get back to Columbus, take a 10 hr break, pick up the load and get it to Pittsburg by 8am. All this for just 200 loaded miles.

I took the Sears job because I figured they would keep me running, which would mean more miles. So far, I'm just not seeing that. I'm still gonna give it a little time to see how things work out. But if it don't get any better than this, I'm going back otr.

    Be safe!!

    The Challenger Thanks this.

They enticed us down in Texas with the "you'll be home every weekend" lol, said average mile were 2500 week, and it was and better the first few weeks, but the true average turned out to be 1800- 2200 week, and the pay wasnt to bad, but I got bored with it really quick. Give it a few weeks see how it goes, I did almost two months....BigT
