Ok here's the deal, i read for hours last night waiting in line to dump. Got lots of good information. What I have is a 5ek 550 factory engine in a w900l. 600k on inframe. 1 million total miles. I want more power. From what I've read I should start with power harness. I want to build in stages, if possible. Ultimately around 750hp level. All information will be appreciated. I put a 625 program into my 475 MXS and Cat said that it won't make 625hp. Is that true? Is that the same case for bigger power upgrades?
-
I've seen 550 MXS engines build alot of power with a 625 program and the right fuel codes in them. I've seen them do 570 to the tires with a 625 hp file in them
When you start adding fuel to an engine it's not a straight line gain on power. Once you cross the 1000 hp mark it takes large amounts of fuel to gain another 200 hp. The earlier electronic CAT engines are very efficient at building horsepower until you get past 850-900 hp..........the Acerts are limited by the turbo sizing and I don't feel they should be pushed past 800 hp. -
570hp at the treads is easy even with STD 550 Acert Flash if you work and Trim the STD injectors
