Just to add a bit to Sammy's post here, if you REALLY want to get your mind blown out with information, look at posts by Oldnewbiegonnabe. He arrived on the forum several months ago, driving a school bus part time, and interested in driving a truck.

He went through the SWIFT school, through his driver training and now is out on his own. A man with a VERY inquisitive mind, he has asked a ton of questions, which have generated hundreds of answers. You will find a lot of his posts in the "Questions From New Drivers" threads.

After reading the entirety of the "Help a trucker wannabe out!!!" thread, I am genuinely interested in what happened to this guy. I hope everything is well with him and his family!

When you accept the fact that about 8 out of 10 newbies never last a year,

you'll realize that some are finished- before they even get started !!

Very true, but this situation with ORG really is weird. This is a guy wanted to do this badly, had a great attitude, and did enough research to have a good idea what he was getting into. As I've said, the real thing can't compare to research and training, and maybe he's realizing this isn't for him or his situation, but it would be very weird if ORG gave up after only a couple of weeks. I could see after some months maybe when he's got a better idea about the lifeastyle, but less than 2 weeks after starting? Given his desire to drive it doesn't make sense.

All that said, it really is the lack of a phone call that gets to me. I can see no posts for now, but he's been called and surely the message has been conveyed that people are concerned. It would only take about 30 seconds to call back and leave a message saying "I'm very busy but everything is fine. Will post when I can." It seems something is very wrong here.

Still going back to what I have been saying or over a week now. I have been in ORG's thread since the get go and this is NOT like him. Also Chris left him VM's to say just call and say you are okay. If he did not make it or was struggling he would be posting it as he posted all along how well he did or did NOT do as he felt this would be a good learning experience for all newbs. This guys head was so in the clouds at the beginning about what being a driver was, but as time went on and his eyes began to open he was really being honest about the lifestyle, pay, hours, being gone etc.

I just don't see ORG leaving with out a word.

Again I am going to pray he is okay.

I agree with sammy. I think he would have posted if he hated it or if it all went bad. If I remember right his wife was ill as well MS i think. So that may be a issue right now. Keep her in prayers as well.

Texas-Nana, sammycat and rayodeluz Thank this.
