That's for sure. I got popped in W.Sacramento on a surface street for overall truck length being over length. Nice little $180 fine for that.

What about the tandem length for NM>LA>MS.TX>AZ i have 42 ibs load and i have it all the way back to 44.6 and going to Alabama.
-
You don't need electronics to see a trailer that is over length on the kingpin to tandem measurement.
I can till at a glance if your moving or not really does not enter into it. The scale have markings on the ground but, they really don't need them. -
Forty Two whole pounds.

not pounds,
ibs !!!!!! -
Here is a tip for all of you drivers.... DON'T TRUST THOSE 40' MARKS YOU SEE ON THE SIDE OF TRAILERS!!! I got pulled into the westbound scale on route 58 (Cache Creek/Tehachapi) near Mojave, CA during wallet check, err... safety check 2010. I received a level 1 inspection... got a sticker for the truck but got written up for being over bridge (6" over) even though the center of the rear axle was directly under the 40' mark that was lettered onto the side of the trailer. I kindly pointed that out to the officer and he kindly pointed out to me with a tape measure the mark was WRONG and tuff luck to me.
corneileous Thanks this. -
Yup, I very rarely get one of our trailers that has those marks in the right place..... I carry a tape measure and a pretty heavy-duty permanent marker for that reason. I got a trailer once where the stickers were almost 2 feet off from where they shoulda been.......
-
yep tape measure every trailer is how i do it. 40 feet on every trailer cause that's the smallest distance. gotta love California.
-
I have ablout as much "love" for California as I do hemmroids......
