Man...You sure read a lot into that post!

    Why?

Because I can tell the difference between business and pleasure?

    Really?

I turn down cheap freight and I refuse to run illegal for anyone...So, exactly how have I contrubuted to the lowering of standards in this industry?

I'm very well known on these forums for running 100% legal 100% of the time...So I ask you again, How exactly do I contribute to the bitter drink that you think you have to swallow?

Seein' as how just like you...I run within the law.

So.....It is Right, honorable and good to take a disabled passenger in a company truck and then allow that passenger to cause the truck to be late with the freight and unable to complete scheduled runs?

The debate on whether I have a soul or not will just have to wait till I give a ####!

    Honor? True sense of duty?

    To what?

A person that shouldn't be on the truck in the first place? That by their very presence causes a problem with the scheduling of loads? (which is by the way the primary reason that these trucks are out here)

I run my own truck! I run it by my rules and to my standards...

When tho O/P has her name on the door, She will have that luxury...Until that time she is gonna have to suck it up and run it the way the man that owns the truck wants it run or (if that's not acceptable) find some other line of work that allows you to drag your disabled family members to work with you and spend your time at work tending to the family members needs while calmly blowing off your job!

Let me know when you find THAT job!:biggrin_2559:

First of all, I'm sick of you blaming my passenger or me for the dispatcher/load planner screw ups.

I've already explained, in detail, that the appointments of the load were changed AFTER I accepted the load. When I accepted the load, it could be done safe and legal. AFTER I accepted the load, they changed the appointments to where the load could no longer be done safe or legal.

In addition, I was not provided with the correct pickup information required by both pickups. The freight from these pickups conflicted with each other with regards to temperature (they should never have been on the same trailer).

Then, to cover their #####, they threatened to cause harm to myself and my passenger, by delaying my home time that was to be in two days by as much as ten days, insuring I would take a serious financial hit, and that my passenger would face health consequences.

Now, you may think this is "business as usual," but that has not been my experience. I don't put up with abuse in my own home, from people I love, why the hell should I put up with it from anyone else? For a few extra dollars? Bragging rights? So I can score points with the Powers That Be? To what end?

I'm sorry if being a person of principles and values is something you are offended by. CSA 2010 will weed you out soon, I'm sure.

There's the problem right there in RED... You are carrying a passenger that is so fragile that missing your scheduled home time by a couple of days is going to cause a problem!

That person does not belong on the truck...PERIOD!

Sometimes in this business you don't get home exactly when you want or need to because freight migt not be heading that direction until a few days later, The company is going to do what's necessary to make sure that the truck is not running for free...That's the nature of the business.

    No one's abusing you!

You are in the wrong business...Go home!

    You people are priceless!

Every time someone explains to you why you are NOT CUT OUT FOR THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY...You (and it's been said in these forums before) drag CSA2010 out and say "CSA 2010 will weed you out soon".

So.....Explain to me exactly why CSA 2010 will weed me out soon...

Is it because I run totally legal?

Is it because I keep my equipment in perfect condition at all times and have never failed an inspection?

Is it because because I run my business like a business?

Is it because I've never in 4,000,000 miles had a chargeable accident?

Is it because I haven't had a ticket in 20+ years?

I'll be waiting patiently for your answer to that question...But it won't be forthcoming because like most other "drivers" that think the trucking business is a family outing or a paid vacation...You don't really have any idea what you're talking about.

It sounds to me like you created your own problem and then wanted to blame someone else. Why does this not surprise me though? YOU are the one that CHOSE to violate the HOS. Your reason is irrelevant, you broke the HOS.

Why did you stop at your FM when she told you it was a "money load"? Why didn't you go the her boss then his boss if necessary? Or to safety? There is always someone else to talk too. Why should you be eligible for unemployment? You VOLUNTARILY quit. I forget this is the blame someone else age..........

let me add in here on the appeal from the Okie standpoint. I appealed unemployment. talked it all thru explained the rules that the judge didn't know. even gave him reg numbers I LOST! he explained that it was common for truck drives to violate HOS rules and as such it was not a reason to leave the job. so I guess if it we make it common to go in and beat the crap out of dispatchers they wont prosecute us? to make matters worse the co is black balling me now. I had a job sewn up they wanted me ready to ordered physical and drug screen then called and explained that they got a bad review! so Plan C goes into play Now!

Just how did your company exploit any issue? they told you that if you didn't make the appointment that you would have to reschedule and you would be late for your home time. That's the nature of the business and has been since the horse and buggy days. If your passenger had that bad health issues then they had know business on the truck in the first place.. Your problems are all of your own making. No sympathy here.

If you are now employed again, best advice anyone can give you is move on. The minute you violated the HOS rules you basically sealed your own fate. "MONEY LOAD" not withstanding. in the end it cost you financially, not Marten. You put your self in a no win situation. I have been driving for 22 years and have recently began driving OTR again. I am completely bewildered by the mindset of drivers starting out today. Everything we do has consequence's, so with that in mind you must act accordingly You are the captain of your ship without sounding too dramatic. Any decisions you allow anyone else to make for you right or wrong reflect only on you the driver. You would have had much better luck with CA EDD going to them with legal log's than trying to explain deliberate log violations by saying "I was told to do this" at that point it was hearsay. I don't like retelling war stories but In driving school over 22 yr's ago I was told no load is worth sacrificing safety for.
