Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.
-
This is the first company I've seen that makes the driver pay for a MVR, DAC and background check. Those reports are for the company to use for their benefit.
If a driver had to pay $48 to every company he applied to, he wouldn't need a job.
The rest of the job looks good. -
We have been doing it for 3 years, it's 100% legal both on the federal and state levels. $48 is a small fraction of the cost. We don't use DAC for the criminal background check, which costs us $87 for every person we run and we run every applicant.
We pay top dollar to our employees and have top notch equipment to boot. -
Its no wonder you have a shortage of employees in today's very tight economy.
Bigarmin88, notarps4me and FriedTater Thank this. -
I am sorry you feel that $48 isn't worth spending to get a job that pays as much as $22 and hour. With jobs as scarce as they are and employers knowing they can be choosy in who they select and reducing wages based on applicant desperation. I am sure there are more than a handful of drivers who would spend the money. We were getting 1000 applicants a month a year ago last time we hired and we run every applicant. At nearly $80 per applicant that adds up to a lot of money and asking the applicant to brunt some of the cost cuts down on a lot of dishonesty and flakers.
I'm not here to debate our company policies or ethics. Companies have requirements to be considered all the time. How about tools to get a job, some transportation companies insists that their applicants pass their company physical at their own expense, CR England is one such company. How about sitting through a company orientation for 5 days WITHOUT pay? Many local driving companies here in AZ mandate you furnish your own MVR to be considered. I have come across a few companies that require you to obtain a finger print card and FBI background check at your own expense, costing as much as $100 and taking up to 6 weeks. Considering what we pay, the benefits we offer and the real cost of the checks we do $48 is pennies when you consider the cost it involves for an applicant to secure a job.
Were not short on drivers or warehouse personnel, we have a newly expanded customer base and expanded coverage areas. Our drivers really don't want us to hire any new drivers because of all the over time we have. We are hiring simply to keep the level of customer service high.
We believe in 2nd chances here and we hire people with criminal backgrounds. All we expect is a little honesty and disclose your history, the background check helps insure integrity. -

lol $22 an hour? In Phoenix Az? Having lived there, I have to say that's not even close to top pay for an experienced driver. And yes today's job market is down. But not for an experienced driver with a proven safety record. For that rate of pay I would insist on tons of overtime too!!! If your drivers are making such great $$, believe me they would rather be at home spending time with loved ones than fighting rush hour traffic in Phoenix!!! Good luck!!!
Bigarmin88 Thanks this. -
Did anyone else catch this...they don't but they do! So which is it? Do or don't? Already caught in a "inaccurate", almost slipped on the truth there!
RED FLAG....RED FLAG!
-
OK I get it now....it isn't DAC anymore it's Hire Right....and they only spend the 5$ for the employment check....cause he later states they do hire drivers with criminal backgrounds!
-
We use DAC/HireRight for driver employment history as this company has the most current and up to date data base of such info. More companies report to them than any other consumer reporting agency combined.
The background check ALONE costs us $87 but is the most thorough we have found to date, it also can take as much as 4 weeks to complete. Nothing is more thorough except a fingerprint check with the FBI and the TSA.
And lastly we use another company for Motor Vehicle Records.
$22 an hour is not top pay? I know of very few companies locally that pay this much let alone pay time and a half. SAIA pay $19-$21 but to my recollection pay only straight time. Martin Brower, a food service company serving McDonalds exclusively pays $18+ per hour but may DC's are union based.
We do hire employees that have criminal history and convictions, we ask that applicants be honest and disclose fully. The background check ensures they are telling the truth.
