I don't buy it.
Logging legal implies running legal.
Running legal means getting your 10-hour breaks in.
If you're tired, the HOS does not prevent you from taking a nap.
14 hours is plenty enough time to get a nap in and still make for a productive day.
Hell, most working folks only work 8 hours.
If you can't make a decent living getting a nap in a 14-hour workday, then maybe you should find another line of work.
When to call it a day.

sorry if i didnt make any sence i was in a hurry...the hours of service piss me off..they if you dont have any common sence or have a company that basicall forces you to run exactally legal you will run tired!! there is no way around it...I personally can not shut down at just say four pm,have a meal and go to bed, sleep untill two am then get up and drive and not be tired...going to bed at four pm aint happening..i will lay there awake for hours trying to go to sleep...this is just an example...
frago Thanks this. -
I did this all week, it sucks trying to get to bed, luckily when I woke up at 12-1am I wasnt feeling tired, but there are times I have and I HATE it. I try to avoid it at all costs, even if it means losing some money for the week.

I am going to start reporting idiots driving like this because they are on the phone. I've never had the issue come up with sleepy drivers just yet, but if I did I would not feel at all bad. That drive is putting everyone at risk. How would I fee if I did nothing and he turns out to be the next accident that kills 10 people? I always ALWAYS try to put the thought in my head, the thought EVERY trucker needs to have in their head. YOU NEVER KNOW WHOSE DRIVING THAT CAR. That car that just cut you off, that car that driver might hit, that car your tailgating a bit close to. It could #### well be a family member or friend, oh you'd recongnize it? Maybe they rented, maybe they borrowed a car cause theirs in the shop, you NEVER Know. Treat EVER one like it has YOUR family in it when you can.

You're all too right, HillBilly! Learned this the hard way goin' thru' my 20's, 30's, 40's. etc!!!! Too many times of pushing it past endurance, got sloppy. Can't have that now!

Can be a tough call, however you may save a life or a few for that matter!

Unless you have the E-LOGS!!!!!!!!! No rest for you! No naps! You are up against your 14! Hurry! Run! Don't stop! Gotta make that appointment!
Paddington Bear, you don't know me, my dedicated route and what running legal really means with e-logs. It's been a pain. It has required a constitution that I didn't know I had. Before on paper logs, I could nap and make it up. Now I'm running 100% legal and real time. I miss the olden days... -
if i am tired--i pull over for a catnap==sometimes that 1 hour is all you need for a quick refreshment--cant stand drivering over tired
and hey---if they wanted the load today---they are really going to want it tomorrow
but i have done lots of those crappy JIT loads where you dont even have time to stop to eat or fuel or anything---no thanx to those--they are just a quick way to an early grave -
u quit when you ran 11 hrs of driving, or 14 hours of driving and working or waiting, anything else.................if something was to happen............prepare your butt for the worst................nuff said
