there is no bigger adrenaline high then sitting out a cat 3/4 you hears trees splitting apart that sound like cannons trees hitting buildings, and shattering them like egg shells, cars get picked up and slammed onto roofs.....it is ....INTENSE

The house I lived in on St.Thomas was an old Army Barracks. The walls and roof were solid concrete 2 foot thick. the building was cinsidered bomb proof for the 1940's...when a palm tree hit the building it would shake this two story concrete building and make a noise like an explosion.......I will not sit out a four in anything but a building like that

I am an adrenaline junkie. And I don't know where it came from. Nik, you are another one of the few I would sit through a 'Cane with.

I would sit one out with ya...I just dont do a typical hurricane party like I used to though...but if I was in the barracks again oh hell yeah we'd be boozing it up and playing cards by the light of the kerosene lamps!!:biggrin_25514:

Man that happened to me when I was at aircrew school in pensacola florida, we woud up riding out a tropical storm in the barracs, there were only 4 of us on duty, so everyone else was gone because it was a 3 day weekend.

the only movie we could get our hands on when the tv went out was the Conan the Barbarian trilogy.

Watching it was better than nothing, evnetually I shut the sound off and made up my own words, it was funny as hell.

we used to have some crazy parties.....but I think the DUMBEST thing I ever did was go out body surfing in between two hurricanes.....hurricanes David and Frederick they came thru the Islands at about a cat1/2 strength and me and my best friend went out body surfing.....this was I think 1978/79 I remember we were stoned as hell, been drinking rum straight to stay warm.
The waves were an easy 10-12 foot and were breaking crazy......

    Man good times:biggrin_25514:

My odds are pretty good for a relief effort. I been to every hurricane relief the past three years with this company. If you ever been in one it's no fun evacuating or the mass return is bad too.

I have a brother that lives near Norfolk, VA. I'll have to check on him.
