Well i go up to harrisburg pa (jonestown)lol. But in all seriousness i go up on wednesday finally. ive been trying to get up there lately but ive had to keep putting it off due to a dying grandma. I did make it up a couple weeks ago but had to leave due to a immediate family emergency. But anywho. From what i seen of the terminal the few hours i was there it seemed to be a nice terminal. The ppl were definitely friendly got to hear a funny story from dm. lol. But we wont get into that. I know ive asked this question before but im going to ask it on my own thread and maybe get a couple different answers from some other people.
Im coming in exp. So im hoping i pass the road test cuz i believe i'd cry. The reason i say i hope is because im set in my ways as far as driving. No clutching using to the jake to stop etc etc...lol. I wanna know if that would be a bad idea in the road test? cuz like i said im definitely not trying to fail this lol.
But right now im sitting home i finally got a laptop so i will be checking over the weekend and i will be informing you all when i get to harrisburg and get checked in the hotel. and oh can that bed be anymore uncomfortable lol but anyways lol.

My test at Phoenix was easy.. basic walk around of the vehicle, and a quick road trip. The truck was a Freightliner with a really notchy and tight transmission so it was grinding a little when I shifted but I got used to it within a couple miles.
Trust me, you should hear of some of the gems they've hired already.. 0_o Mexican Overdrive on hills, smoking trailer brakes, 75 mph downhill trainees.. I've heard some horror stories. Just double clutch it it make them happy, then do what you want when you get your truck. -
i can only imagine lol...i'd like to see some of them boys drive what ive been driving for the past 7 months. 2009 389 Ext Hood Peterbilt with a 18spd. They'd have half the cities torn down lol. But yeah thanks for that info on what yours was like. hopefully it will be the same for me. ""knocks on wood"". How long you been with swift

^ Not long.. I've been driving for about 6 years, but they won't acknowledge MIL training.. :-/
Going from an 18 speed to a neutered Swift truck with a 9 speed is going to be rough for ya. We had a rock load (home depot) going from MT to WA and some of those hills I REALLY just needed half a gear to keep from either screaming at 1500rpm or bogging at 1200.
My kingdom for a splitter! We hit any change in grade and the truck would bog big time. Sometimes 5th was too much but it wouldn't do 6th. It would just drop right out of the powerband. The RPM drop off on those transmissions is really drastic in 5th-8th. And this was with a 2010 Volvo. But again, grossing 80k wasn't helping much either for lookout pass..

lol them splitters are life savers. yeah it definitely is going to be rough but im just hoping the person giving me the road test is level headed and understanding that im losing 9 gears lol. yeah i know all about being heavy during the early spring/summer i would load watermelons lol so yeah lets just leave it at i was HEAVY lol

good luck with it all and hopefully it works out great for you. let us know how you do. im sure as long as you can show that you have control of your rig at all times and use safety at all times you wont have any problems

thanks for the encouragement mass i appreciate it

great aint even made it to orientation yet and the bs has already started. got a phone call today from swift saying that they havent been able to get ahold of the guy that ive been driving for and yet he told me over 2 weeks ago that he has spoke with them? odd

I just got through with my training a couple of weeks ago and so far I really like the company. Of coarse being a rookie I get a truck with nearly a half million miles on it, but it is still a pretty nice truck. If I have one complaint, and its only one, is that its hard finding someone to answer my questions/concerns at night when im on the road. I like to drive at night as much as possible and after 4 or 5 when my regular driver manager goes home, ive noticed that I cant get anyone to answer me at times on the qualcom. I try to call on the phone and I cant get an answer from anyone on the phone! ! ! Now you can imagine where the frustrarion begins. Im a new driver, needing help, and I cant get in touch with ANYONE! ! ! They dont like you calling on the phone at all, so I sent a message on the qualcom the other night, somewhere around 7:00 pm or so and at 10:00 a.m. the next morning, I still hadnt received an answer. Now this is not always the case, but it is more times than none. My 2 cents.
