I wonder if you Auto Truck Transport veterans can help me out? I'd like to buy a couple of their lowboys from them or the manufacturer. I can't seem to find out who would be the contact at A/T Transport. Maybe you know or know a manufacturer (besides Delavan). I'd sure appreciate the help.

It's funny because i think Delavan is the manufacturer for ACT/unimark trailers. i'm not 100% because i never paid that much attention, but i think it did say delavan on the mudflaps.

What are you trying to do?

I used to do that kind of work 25 years ago. If you've been at it a while I hauled IVECO trucks from the Port of Philadelphia for a couple of years and then lost the work to K-A-T. I'd like to restore a trailer and build a show truck. I've tried talking to Delavan about trade in trailers or leads but they're not very responsive. I don't want a new one any way. Either of you guys got an idea of where I could go? I have spoken to a Chuck Tinker at Auto Truck but to date he has never sent me the papers I need to get on the bid list for "salvage".

You know you will be laid off again shortly based on company seniority instead of terminal seniority according to the newly penned IAM 'capitulation' agreement with ATT. Word is this will happen within two weeks.

Trucks are just trickling out of all terminals except for Portland where Freightliner finally decided to scrap the 'transport by lowboy' plan and let ATT single piggyback them instead. Foreign terminal detention pay now starts on the fourth day instead of the second day as before.

    Good luck.:biggrin_2556:

Yea I know all that, if the company seniority and no passport is how they layoff I might keep my job. It is supposed to only be by open terminals if what I've been told is correct. They've had people working the whole time at LRD with less seniority the I have. At least two weeks will get me vested and if it is how I expect it to be I'll probably be moving on to something else. I'm lucky, wife has a good paying jobs and kids all grown up.

The best job I ever had!

I was there from 2003 to 2005. I was called a Joplin driver in the beginning and later became a Springfield driver when ATT got the International contract.
As a driver it was great to be in a motel every night. I flew 125,000 miles a year...almost always first class.

I traveled to places like Nova Scotia, Red Deer,Canada and all over the U.S.

I was paid for everything I did...never ever got shafted by the company.

If that job still existed I would stand in line to do it again.

Unfortunately, from what I hear...it's no longer the same.
