    :biggrin_25521:I will be starting soon at US Trucking School in Detroit. I will apply to the big companies but also wondering if there are smaller Mom/Pop's that will hire someone just starting out.

    I don't have a permanent address, currently live with family in SE Michigan. Will relocate just about anywhere. Can make runs to Canada, prefer not totravel New York-Jersey corridor.

    They (mom n pops) may or may not hired someone just starting out depends on the company...some of these smaller ones might be looking for Owner Operator since most newbies don't own their trucks. Best to check with them to see if they would hire you.

    The benifit of hiring on with a bigger company is some offer to pay your tution costs for you as long as you work for them. Smaller companies might have this advantage. After you get your CDL then you or can go with a company then will put you with a Trainer for a few weeks to do what is called Finishing up (training) your education. Then you can make the choice to go solo or be part of a team.
