Hello. I've been browsing through the site for a few days now and decided I'd finally post.
Looking at getting my CDL, it's something I've thrown around here and there for a few years. I just rode with a friend from LA to Hunt's Point and I think it really pushed me into gear motivation wise. I loved it, even after sitting 10 days near the Tullo Truck Stop in South Kearny waiting for a load.
I've been researching a lot of the companies and mills trying to figure out what to do which is how I wound up here. I've enjoyed the site, and have found a lot of good, valuable information from the driver's personal experiences with companies. It sometimes is hard to figure out what's true or not, but hey that's what the internet's all about.
I'm 26 and have mostly worked as a welder. I worked at Wabash National for a few years building bogies for the trailers. I've seriously contemplated finding a company based solely on the fact that they don't pull Wabash. Some scary stuff that went on in there.
About 4 years ago I was in a serious motorcycle accident when a lady decided to turn left right through me. Took me 3 years to walk again. Coming back from being disabled in this economy and in this location has been horrible, there just is no work period. This is my biggest worry with finding a trucking job as well since I have not worked for some time and it doesn't look so good.
So here I am, finding where to start. Even after reading all of the bad stories, all I know is low crappy pay is better than my $0 pay right now, so if it happens it happens. I just want to drive and don't care where or when.

Alright, so I am in need of a job, just as many folks are these days. My father, drove a truck for most of his life, so I thought I should look into it. I'll tell you a bit about me then maybe you could give me some feed back thanks.
I am 33 years old and have done a lot of jobs in my time. Everything from construction, farm hand, horse ranch, factory, and then I joined the Corps. I did 5 in the US Marine Corps, made Sgt, as a crew chief on the CH-46 with 2 trips to Iraq. Got out of the Corps, and went to work for a great company. I made management in a year and then after another 2 years did not make the 4th round of layoffs. Looking to drive for a living now and not sure where to begin.
