    Hi
I am looking at workiing for a fedex custom critical tractor/trailer as a team...anyone have anyone information on whether there is money to be made here? Example ...if I run 3500 miles a week as an o/o, will we make an gross income of 190,000 a year? Before expenses? or after expenses? Please anyone who has experienced this, give us some feedback. Thank you...

HELLO! THO I DON'T WORK FOR FED EX I DID GO TO THE EXPEDITERS SHOW LAST JULY IN WILMINGTON, OH. I DO UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS $$ TO BE MADE WHEN YOU DO RUN...BUT I ALSO KNOW THAT THERE CAN BE ALOT OF DOWN TIME IN EXPEDITING. I WOULD SAY $190,000 GROSS WOULD BE OK (GROSS MEANING BEFORE EXPENSES) BEING NEW YOU WOULD REALLY REALLY HAVE TO RUN HARD AND RUNNING HARD MEANS FED EX GIVING YOU LOADS. MY SUGGESTION WOULD BE TO RUN FOR AN O/O AS A TEAM FOR AWHILE TO SEE HOW YOU LIKE IT AND TALK TO OTHERS BEFORE TAKING THE PLUNGE INTO A PURCHASE. YOU DID NOT MENTION IF YOU DO CURRENTLY DRIVE AND FOR HOW LONG. ALSO, BE PREPARED TO GET TO CANADA AS THAT IS A REQUIREMENT FOR FED EX EXPEDITING SERVICE MEMBERS...ANOTHER SUGGESTION IS TO GET ON EXPEDITING WEBSITE FORUMS AND CHECK THEM OUT. GOOD LUCK!!

I talked to a guy on the radio not too long ago. He drove for Custom Critical out of Birmingham. Some loads pay in excess of 5 bucks/mile according to him. He also told me all deadhead miles are paid.

I have heard from several people that CC is one of the best money jobs in trucking if you can stand the lifestyle of being on call 24-7.

Just being a regular FedEx driver will gross you over 125k, so I would think 190k is not unheard of for Custom Critical.

Well I sure would like to know if CC is the place to go. I am thinking of once more diving into the pan with this group. Can someone tell me if this is a good move, National Carriers broke me almost of th O/O area of trucking, do you think this is a good way to get back on track? Lost in american trucking companies working for no one who cares? Me too.. KBR is looking.. LOL.. Thanks ED

FedEx Custom Critical will run solos or teams . The only thing solos have to realize is since it's time sensitive freight solos get short runs that can be accomplished without needing a 10 hour break . I have heard of straight truck solos relaying a load if they have an available dock or pallet jack and liftgate to transfer the load .
If you call the FedEx CC recruiter she will send you info showing all the stats on trucks from last year , miles run , average gross revenue , percentage of availability , and so on . FedEx CC has just cut their rate on cargo vans to make them more competitive with other carriers . This has the O/O's a little anxious about what is in store for them .

I worked for them for 4 years, I finally left this year, If you decide to work for them, and work for an owner op, watch your money, keep track of every penny, there are fleet owners that will keep your last pay, lie to you and say fed ex didn't get your paperwork, when in fact they always get your paperwork, if you do a split, read everything really good. Some don't run very hard, so do, Fed Ex plays favorites so watch them too, Calif? don't go you end up sitting in Calif for a week,
Its better to own your own truck and speicalty refer trailer, all wood floors, etc, its a pain, and Fed Ex, wants you to take a cut rate, lol The pay use to be great, $5.00 mile, ya, no problem, however, it might only be 50 miles to 100 miles, maybe less, and you spend all day on that load, Teams are a must at Fed Ex CC, weekend work is mostly not there, dont expect 5 to 6k miles a week though.... good luck, Im going to work for a company, my taxes are paid, I get insurance, and see home and my family, if you decide to go to them, expect to stay out 12 weeks or more....

If you love sitting for days betwwen loads, like working for companies that treat you like dirt and sub out loads to other companies whiled their own trucks sit you will love expesiting.

If you want gto make real money stay away.

I spent 2.5 years expediting... the best thing I did was quit.
