This is pretty much my whole story.
I have 18 years of verifyable employment. References that go back over 25 years. My work history is in Sales and Account Management. Who is buying ? That's why I will start driving.
My H6 is clean, it's one page. My DOT card was easy to get as I am in good health. I have no limitations, no health matters and if you want to know I do not snore.
I know the big carriers will pick me up but what I want to know is if there is a decent company that that is maybe a little smaller that needs to find a guy they can wind up and send on his way and know he will deliver on time.
I work hard, think very fast on my feet ... my last job took my to China and Mexico. I sold them both.
I made school look easy but I know there is much I need to know. I'm in the for the whole game. If we make a deal I won't leave unless you break your word. You're not wasting your time training me.
Here's the deal; I'll work hard and not ring your phone with stupid questions or accident reports and you give me a decent piece of equipment (I did not say new) and provide me a way to make an acceptable living.
I don't care too much about where I go (NJ and NYC maybe not) and I'd like to stop every-so-often in Pheonix. Taking the truck home or parking it close by would be very helpful. I live near the Pilot in Hesperia ..... ish.
I'm easy to get along with but "Teams" is a word for football.
Reply here with how I get in touch with you ... provided you exist.
I'm not scared so Tanker or Flatbed work doesn't scare me .... yet.
Please don't think I'm being arrogant. I have always been a "helper" to the company I work for so being swallowed up by a big machine is a little scary. I want to learn my new trade as a benefit to my new employer. I'm not sure if this is possible but I figured I would put it out there and see what happens.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

My company wont touch you till you get experience. I'm sitting at pilot in phoenix now. looking in the bt section. There is a covenant next to me and a crst on the other side I think they both hire students. You only have to stay with them for a year and most any good company will hire you. Just get your time in!!!
-
Yep. That seems to be the truth.
But, it is always worth it to ask the question. -
nice comments guys, but i have a question for you Capt, Have you been through or going to school now? If you are or have been in school you will get pre-hired form companies that come out and talk to the students. Most newbies will be with a trainer (so you will be a team), until you get some "driving experience". Some Companies will pay off your tuition to the company that you hire on with (as long as you work for them). If you don't have any payments to make then after 6 mos of driving then you can go to other company. Trucking companies will look at your diving employment record for experience. The first company you sign on with may not be the greatest but you will gain knowledge.

OK, I'll reiterate.
Yes. I have my CDL (Tanker, Doubles).
Pre-Hire means nothing. Werner pre-hired all of us.
I paid my school out of pocket. If I get it back that is nice but it is spent money to me.
I know the gig with the big companies.
I'm looking for an exception to the rule ... and yes, I can ask for one. -
Go to the werewolf1 post Capt. and see if you're interested in a team deal I'm considering going that route as the money is great and time passes quickly. (I'm now54 so I don't necessarily know if that's a good thing) Something to be said for having your privacy in a solo job. It's something for you to consider. Good luck and remember " The Dude Abides" Werewolf1
