Is that the Flexible Spending Account?
-
Did they give a reason?

My company has something like that. Thought it was a good idea until I read the fine print. If I don't use it, I lose it.
-
Yepper, that was what I getting at. It should have been all spelled out.

Youse gotz to read whatz you sign !!!!
CA_Medicine_Woman Thanks this. -
ouch. that sucks.

OK now that you know your not getting it back do you know exactly why your not getting back (what does the fine print say). I assuming this is taken from your earned income wages is it before or after taxes not that it should make a difference. still lotsa unanswered ???

I don't know the details of your plan, but if it is a pre-tax deduction for a flexible medical spending account, the federal govt sets the rules, and no, you cannot get a refund. However, you can still use it and the your Benny card should continue to work until you hit whatever is left on the account. At least thats the way it is supposed to work.....this same situation happened to me. To use it up I got a pair of prescription sunglasses that I've been wanting and over the counter med (asprin, cough syrups etc). There is a time limit but I don't know what it is. Hope this is the case for you, good luck!

It's not a scam if it is a flexible spending account. Every company in any industry I ever worked for had this. It's very, very useful if you know upfront you or a family member will have a lot of medical costs for whatever reason it may be.
Personally, I've always turned down the benefit as it didn't make any sense financially for my personal situation at that particular time. It is very useful for others though.BooBooMaker and Everett Thank this.
