Can someone tell me how much they are getting of the pump price with their fuel card. I'm looking for a fuel card. I just got a chase rewards card in the mail. Which would benefit me a fuel card or the chase card. Chase has a 5% cash back and 0% if paid off. i need to now how much i would be getting if i choose a fuel card. Would i get .10 to .20 off the pump price with a fuel card. thanks

Considering they up charge credit cards about 6 cents a gallon, I would not use one.

As an individual, even with a fuel card, you will get little or no discount.

    Companies negotiate huge volume discounts.

I can get one from freight capitol with a $.15 discount at ta/petro but i dont use big truck stops so its no good to me. I just use my company debit card and i dont buy fuel where they charge more for using a card.

There are several fuel cards around. Most offer smaller carriers little or no discounts. Some may offer about $0.02/gallon, but some of those are at independents rather than the major chains. Another thing to consider is that most fuel cards charge a transaction fee. Most of them charge about $2/per transaction, regardless of the amount of fuel purchased.

The advantage to using ANY of the fuel cards is that it is easier to keep and maintain fuel purchases for filing your quarterly IFTA. Most will also allow you to print out an annual report for taxes. It does make it easier to maintain your records.

But 5% cash back is about 15 cents per gallon less the 6 cents so you are still saving 9 cents per gallon. Many small fuel stops don't rob you if you pay with a card.

I'm going to get a Fleet One card simply because I don't like carrying all that cash around with me...
