Ok here's an update...I got a 09 Prostar in SLC and it's pretty nice..but it's a 9 speed...oh well..it shifts pretty nice...can float it very smoothly.I got an mt in the yard and they're sending me to Fontana because they've got alot loads supposedly. So, I'm at home in L.V. getting ready to load up my stuff and head out to the Republic of Calif....yea! They were short on trucks and tried to give 1 guy a Prostar that was a absolute pigpen...the last guy smoked and it was like he sprayed ashes over every inch of the truck..I could only be in there less then a minute...bad..He gave it back to them and it turns out that the truck was still on shop status and he was not supposed to have it anyway...He caught a ride home to L.V. with me...See ya'll later...:biggrin_25525:

just remember that when you get into your own and your mentors truck....close the door when you back up. =) still reading thru the posts....how are things going? i can only assume you've finished orientation and on a mentors truck now....

had i been the driver with that load, and i got there, and was notified someone reported the trailer with an issue like that, then they ask me to drive it...i'd have told them nope.....to send onroad. Either that, depending on the time of day, run without the lights on to the terminal.

I know you're just looking out for the equipment, but i'd let that driver pre-trip his own trailer. I dont get paid enough to do the job of another driver. =)

being told to drive a trailer with a DOT fault, is like when i was at a swift shop, that JUST went thru b-service (was in a bunk room for the night, and the truck sat for 9 hrs after b-service before i picked up the keys) and come to find out that the truck batteries are dead. the shop foreman said, "ok...well pull it around back and we'll get it in..." "uh....its dead, buddy". (not to mention part of b-service is to check the batteries. they obviously didn't do that)

man....is it me...or does anybody else think Lisa Kelly on Ice Road Truckers is hot? =)

09 porn star....nice. i've seen some '310' trucks that were just issued, and the driver dont take any pride in it...and it looks like a 4 year old truck. I've seen the interior, but dont look like a whole lotta room. i've got a 09 Volvo mid roof....diecent room, but i'd REALLY like to get into a KW 700 or T2k....but not a lease thru swift. =)

Well...I got to Fontana yrd yesterday with my mt and got a pp for a load to Denver..When I got up this morn, I had a flat on rear drives...Took it to Mira Loma yrd and they replaced it with a new one and i had a questionable tire that he also replaced with a new 1..See it pays off to be nice to the tire guys..lol
BTW Dick, I was never on a mentors truck since I already had experience..:biggrin_2558:

    Update so far,
I was on my way to Denver and my a/c went out, thank god it was pretty nice outside. After I dropped my load,I went to our Denver shop and got my truck fixed.I sat there for most of the day after it was fixed and finally got a pp that delivered on Tues in New Hampshire...1980 miles.I turned it down because it didnt load until almost midnite and I don't like to run between that late at nite...Plus it had 2 drops and there's no way I could get them delivered on time..I'm on my way to Fontana yrd with an mt...yes...mt! 900 miles!..I don't mind at all...I will take any trlr anywhere...Well I'm off again.....:biggrin_25522:

Well it's been a real interesting journey with Swift..I have over 11000 miles so far and 3000 of them have been deadheading...I just did one...1333 miles from Dallas to Okla to Fontana...unbelievable! 2 1/2 days later and I'm here with no p/plan...Total B.S....They woke me up this morning at 4am with a pp and when I got down to Fontana, it magically got cancelled...My DM didn't even know there was 1, until I gave him the pp number and said you guys woke me up at 4am with it...They gave me a load to pick up in Okla, so I deadheaded from Dallas to the shipper...guess what, no load even existed...What? It took them 2 hrs to tell me on the QC that it was voided!....Morons.This week I have close to 3000 miles turned in. My DM, a real cool guy, sent us out a message last week saying we were avg'g 1200 miles a week under him and we need to step it up.I do that in 2 days...You would think that those of us who love to keep rolling, would always have a pp b4 we even drop our loads...I was in our lovely Mira Loma shop getting a B service that took 2 days btw, 2 weeks ago. I was near Kingman and a STOP ENGINE light came on! What the heck! They had me take it to a TA and the problem was a clogged air filter! The untrained techs at our shop never even glanced at it...That's pretty clogged for it to reduce my power and just about shut it down...OMG! Oh well I don't know how much longer I can do this if this is what I'm to expect from this co.....:biggrin_25513:
