Now just hold on, Hippy. I will make this happen. It's just gonna take a little longer then I originally planned. Don't rain this parade yet. :)

All of those are really great ideas. But I'm gonna have to start small and big over time. Your suggestions are noted. And you know you're a Queen.

If you can get the place built, you can make space for offices and stores and rent the spaces out to others to run

    That is an awesome idea.

Something that would go really good with that too, is having an area with covered picnic tables, and built in barbeques that drivers could buy charcol for, have a little BBQ and enjoy doing thier 34 restart.

That would fit nice next to or inside the fenced dog park wouldn't it? Probably better next to it. I wouldn't want to have to chase after someone's pup for my steak.:biggrin_25523:

"What we've got here is failure to communicate..."

I think it is going to be very interesting seeing what CVSA2010 brings, and I do think it is very wrong holding something against a driver for what they have no control over.

And if you go back and look at my post, I did not say exclude, I said have seperate areas for box vans and the flat beds. I think if both could be secured by a fence it would be a good thing, but I am thinking like a company owner, and I know that for a 6' tall industrial grade chain link fence with a 3 wire barbed wire on the top you are talking 10.00 a linear foot if you buy a whole bunch of it at one time. And this does not include the cost of instalation. You can figure in another 5.00 per linear foot for this cost.

You figure what it will cost to make a fence around the parking area, and you are talking the necessity for thousands of feet of chain link fence. If you figure that a square acre is aproximately 208 feet on each side, and in order to have the parking a stop like this would need to conduct business you are talking the need for 8-10 acres of parking.

If we say 10 acres that is an area that is 660 feet on each side. Thus you would need 2640 feet of fencing to secure it. At a cost of 39,600.00 that is a major chunk of change!

On the flip side if you are securing 5 acres, this is 466.69 feet on each side for a total of 1866 linear feet of fence around the perimiter # 15.00 per linear foot you are looking at 28,001.00, or about 11,600.00 difference.

Granted it would be better if the whole lot were immediately secured in such a manner, but I think you can see why id sugjest such a thing.

When it comes to being branded. That is something we deal with in the industry as a whole, and it is that way for any industry/organization that has to deal with the public.

Weather you are a trucking company, a towing company, a police department, or a branch of the military, it is really easy to get negative publicity pinned on you because most people do not have regular contact with people in these lines of work. Thus when something happens IE the tragic accident in Arizona where the car cut off another, then that car had a colliscion with a tanker truck and subsaquently two babies were killed, the story was written in a manner that made it sound like the trucker was at fault when in all actuality, it was another vehicle that was mentioned only once in the article.

I will also say that comapny you work for has hired a lot of people that have pulled a lot of stunts that have given the company a very negative image. Because of this everyone there is going to get painted with a fairly broad brush.

That being said though that can all be washed away by getting to know some one. For instance, I know Nana drives for the same company, and I dont hold it against her, in fact I think she is swell.

As for yourself, I have seen many posts you have written here, and I get the impression that you do know what you are doing behind the wheel. I will also say I think that is what leaves you frustrated when you get painted with that broad brush, and unfortunately that will be the nature of the beast until either that company you work for greatly improves thier image by correcting thier hiring practices and doing what it takes to warm the hearts of those who they have affected in a negative light. Or it will be when you move on to a different company and leave the stigma that comes with that company brand behind.

Either way it is something we all face, I know numerous times I have been refered to as a "stupid ###### trucker." I try not to let it affect me and instead I consontrate on how I can be the best I can be, and strive to be a professional.
