I bought a new LTD29 Chrome CB for the truck I was just issued. It has the factory antennas on it. This is a 2002 Freightliner Columbia. The left antenna is for the radio. The right for the CB. I am getting poor FM reception and I am only getting about 3/4 mile CB reception. My red ant light comes on when I key the mic. Is it supposed to? Should I replace both antennas? I am looking at buying either a Galaxy 2000 or 5000 antenna. Are these good? Any advice?

My advice to you is to run a Wilson trucker 2000 it is reasonably affordable and available at any truck stop. Also would recommend running a better coax as well. If you are running through Iowa swing by Walcott CB shop excellent people in there will treat you right. Hope this helps you out. Have a safe ride!!!

Does anyone think this an antenna issue for both of the issues I am having?

Could be the antenna or the coax or both. Wilson Trucker 2000 and some new coax.

Have the shop tune the SWR of the radio to the antenna - and make sure they use a proper meter, not the one on the radio, which is usually not accurate at all. I had a Cobra 29 and a Wilson trucker. I couldn't get out, couldn't receive and my SWR light came on every time I keyed the mike. After tuning, it all worked fine.

its the opposite in a columbia the left is your cb the right is your radio. ditch your factory coax, you can leave it in place, buy a good one run outside your mirror zip tie it to the mirror hanger, run ith through the little vent window in the front.
Then once you have the cable inside take off the little window frame panel.
To get it off you take off the door seal and the plastic pulls off. Run the cable through the cubby hole, then into the cb hole.
Mount a bracket to the mirror hanger and kick it out at an angle foreward.
Then get a good antenna, if you try to run a wilson through the factory coax it messes with your SWR,s at least in my radio, then get the radio tuned and it will be good to go.
The biggest gain is going to be a tune, then the new coax and antenna, and mount
If you need pictures let me know and i can snap some

Should I go with a single 2000, dual 2000's or a single 5000? What should I do about the radio antenna?

I believe you have you wires crossed,
the right side is AM/FM and the left is for the CB.

A single 2K is more then plenty of stick for an average tuned radio.
Fiberglass is a bad choice for am/fm reception quality, ditch it for stainless asayc.
