Charlotte-area interstate a hotspot for wrecks

There are wrecks on I-77 every day. Usually the road is blocked in one direction or another. I-77 from Ft. Mill SC to Statesville NC is a nightmare, yet nothing is done to address the traffic problem. There is an HOV lane in some portions that is rarely used, but DOT refuses to change it to regular traffic because that would not be politically correct.

Charlotte is all out for light rail, and is using traffic congestion as an excuse to raise taxes and obtain federal money to accomplish their rail plans. I am in Charlotte 6-8 times a week, and traffic is ridiculous.

Part of the article was talking about boaters causing slowdowns. When the weather is warm, especially on holiday weekends, girls will be on boats stopped close to the Lake Norman bridge on I-77. The girls will either be sunbathing topless, or flashing drivers as they cross the bridge. This causes slow traffic to almost come to a stop.
