I completely agree with you on gold. They will forever be needed for electronics atleast. I'd be careful of diamonds tho. They are getting really close to manufacturing perfect diamonds. And I doubt they will stop trying.

Gold and silver is used in just about everything so it's solid. And because when the supply is too high producers stop mining to raise demand back up before they continue. So it has a safety net.

The only exception would be if every nation went back on the gold standard which isn't going to happen if the governments want to be able to print as much money as they want.

The best way to have a million dollars in the trucking biz is to start with two million....

My dad has put away over a million not including his company retirement benefits over 25 years of driving. It all came down to he won't spend an dime unless it's necessary and he invests, invests, invests.

That's all it comes down to in the end. It's not how much you make but what you do with the money you make. He's always had money since I was a kid and he's never made poor decisions with it.

He always buys the lowest end of a certain model car, lived in a house within his means, and stayed away from credit. The last two houses he bought were paid in cash because he saved up until he could do it. That's probably been one of the biggest savings, no interest on a house is huge.

It's a very hard thing to do though for most people, me included. It's hard to be that big of a tightwad throughout life. He even makes my mom work, not because she has to, but because he won't pay the bills she racks up shopping. I can guarantee not a single dime he saved up came from her.

We can all be millionaires really working any blue collar job, but it's tough and it takes strong discipline.

I think most people don't mainly think about being millionaires and would be happy to just be middle be class and provide a decent life for their family. It can be done though the best way is to start as young as possible save and take advantage of compounding interest. To bad most people don't wise up about money until later in life.

Well I didn't read all the replies on here.

However, my wife and I are currently following the plan that Dave Ramsey has. We've read his books and taken his Financial Peace University class.

Right now, we are doing good, still in debt up to our eyeballs, but doing good.

Right now, we are paying about 5 grand in debts (including our rent)...if we saved that money up for a few years, we could pay for a house, with cash.

We are set to get out of debt in about two years. I think one can retire with not just a million, but millions of dollars, if they make the right choices, especially early on.

I have always wanted to open a truckstop. Just a local mom and pop one with savings or whatever. Somthing simple, store, maybe food, and parking spaces for truckers to rest.

And yeah, I know some jabbah's would destroy my bathrooms but....eh, maybe I would find the respectful ones too who remember that mom and pop stops are there because they like the people, not the money.
