I actually hauled out of field today too. I quit about 9 pm some of them were still going to cut tonight. Remnants from that Hurricane are coming up here, rain tomorrow afternoon and Thursday possible heavy rain. Needless to say the rain forecast made the farmers nervous and they wanted to keep cutting.

Cutting irrigated field 16 to 18 % and yields probably close to 200. This may be all I haul out of fields but that's ok made good money.

he means rolling the stubble down dairyman....its what we call a snake-killer or water-buffalo.....it just lays the stubble down flat so it will rot in the water this winter and be easier to disk in the spring....not actually baling it as i think was the picture you had in mind

SB is right dairyman that is what I meant. I did hear a couple of years ago that they were gonna start using rice straw as ethanol feedstock for a plant down around Stuttgart. I don't know if that ever got up and running tho.

whats cool about rolling stubble is that you can only do it when water is standing or in a steady rain....if not the mud will get into a "dough" stage and ball up on the roller....lots of muddy tractors in our parts....but ots a little early for rolling here yet, its just too dry....when the winter rains set in we put the buffalos to work

SB the bosses here run a big duck hunting deal so a lot of their rolling etc. is geared towards that. Our buggy drivers will get jumped quick if they cross a levee that's being saved for hunting. When I'm hauling out in the winter I have to dodge hunters vehicles at one of our loadouts. Guys come from everywhere to hunt.
