Just a reminder today is Sept. 1st which means that if you run in Colorado you have to carry your chains. If you getr DOTed you could get a fine for not having them.

ROF...I was on a camping trip and the fishing sucked. I'm used to it, we natives can handle it.:biggrin_25514:

I had to get one of "we natives" unstuck from a four foot snow drift in March just south of Leadville on Lake County Road 7 and I am just some dumb flatlander. :biggrin_2559: We thought it would be "neat" to go over a mountain pass that was gravel in March in a rental vehicle. We stopped to look at how deep the snow was and found a native of said county stuck in the snow while trying to do what we wanted to do. Took us 30 minutes to get him out.

AZ Cop once told me that I had to carry chains anytime it could snow . . . I have seen snow on the ground in July in the AZ mountains . . . you might as well carry chains year-round ( and never use them)

That time of the year already, huh? Looking forward to another Colorado Chain Law massacre this year. Hopefully I won't lose as many chains down Vail like I did last year!

I carry mine year round anyway. They only weigh 180 pounds and it's a pain in the butt to be fooling with them. So they live on that rack. I don't throw iron unless I absolutely have to in order to get out of a mess. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to throw iron at the bottom and go up. If it's that bad at the bottom, it isn't going to get any better further up.

You mean you had to get one of the "I have 4x4 and I can go anywhere as fast as I can when I want to" natives. I have a name for them. DWHUA. Idiots, and prob were natives. Makes the rest of us look bad. I know exactly where you were. I live about a hour south. 285 and 50.
