I have been talking with a guy I know at home.
He has been driving for a few years also. I never talked to him much before, but he is an old friend of my brother inlaws.
He is running with a small company now and just running from Dunkirk NY to South FL.
Getting paid well and home most weekends. I had told him to let me know when/ if his company is hiring again.
Well, they think they will be adding a few trucks next month. But they are swapping the full fleet to Landstar.
So it would be full OTR.
I am not sure if I want to do that again or not. But he says the pay is really good. So I will have to talk to him more and think about it.

might want to read up on the landstar forums. there's a few O/O's used to be there. don't know if they still are. there's even a dedicated forum sight for landstar.

Be glad your staying on the west coast JJ. The construction in Indianapolis tonight kicked my butt!!! After actually being on the right path, panicked cause I thought I was going the wrong way, tried to fix it, then really screwed up, then somehow, got back on the right path. Just gotta love this life, eh. lol

    Week started out so well.
Then went to 250-300 miles per day from Monday on. Now they are finally getting me loads to head me home, but it is 2 loads out and not home till afternoon Saturday.

I have to deliver this in Monroe OH. Then take another 10, and pick up in Cincinnati, drop that in Columbus, and hook a load to Buffalo to deliver at 0200 Saturday. I will not have the hours to drive home though. So I will have to take a 10 in Buffalo 70 miles from home.

I think that I have just reached the final straw with my comapny tonight. I understand, that we are a training company, and that a tight rein is probably needed. 1 of those reins is, when a CSR does not properly do they're job, we are required to fax in the BOL showing the temp. Well now, not only do we have to fax it in, but we now need to get approval to do so, and get a PO # for it to get reimbursed. *sighs very heavily*

They just figure that enough drivers will not bother with it on a regular basis to be cost effective.
If the drivers just fax it anyway then the driver pays for the fax, and the company saves money.
It is a scam, they know that a certain percentage of the time the driver will not get the permission and the company can keep the money.

Same thing with "lost trip pak's".
They do not get lost very often, probably 5% of the time the company's say they are lost they do not have them. They just want to keep the money and screw the driver.
Most of the time they get away with it.
Same happens with allot of things in trucking. Anytime they can not pay a driver it is a good thing for the company.

    you gots to be creative.

you can get a magicjack. it works off highspeed internet. and takes the place of you landline service. it cost $20 a year. you can use it as a modem. use your cellphone or aircard as most of you have for your internet on your laptop. should be able to send a fax that way if you had a fax machine of some type.

or sign up for one of them internet fax services. and get a cheap scanner. you scan your documents. email them to your fax service and it dials and sends for you. walmart usually has good prices on all in one printer scanner fax machines. i buy one about every 2 years when i see them for $50. cheaper then buying new printer ink. for as much as mine get used.

i think efax costs $5 a month. just do a google search

there are ways out there. and a LOT cheaper.

I know that there use to be a way in windows, or office of sending a fax like it was an e-mail.
I do not know if the function is still on computers though. I think it was more in the dialup days, and it would just hook your computer up as a fax to send them.
Almost has to be a way to fax off a computer though, for scanned documents.
Makes no sense that something as high tech as todays computers could not do something as low tech as fax.
Time for sleep though. I will have to look some time.

Ahhhh, what a day. Got chewed out for something I sent, on the QC. Wah but really need to curb my ....... enthusiasm? lol Then the tlr I had needed to go to a shop and also needed a turn signal lite. No problem with the tlr but turn signal was another story. Went to the KW place, told them what I needed, finally got it, and went to put it on the trk. Grrrrrrr, got bit by the 660 bug. They have kind of a triangular shape to them AND it does make a difference as to whether its a LH or a RH. Go figure. :biggrin_25522: Needed a RH one and not in stock.
After that, I DH'd to Davenport to pick up another tlr, from a shop, just to take it to a tire place.
Anyway, am now in Waterloo, IA. Load is rdy but not going to get it till the am. Have 2 days to do 900 miles. Can it possibly be done? :biggrin_25523:
