Every engine with a DPF from every company is having the same issues.
I am waiting to see if the new engines are better, since they cut back on the EGR, and should not soot up so bad with the after treatment. -
From what i have been hearing on the Lockridge report that the 2010s dont have that problem. Alot of people seem to be liking the DD15.
-
I have been hearing the same, but they did not start to see the issues with the 2007 engines till they got over 50k on them. Most closer to 100k.
So I am waiting to see.
I cannot buy a new one anyway, and the used ones are going up in price fast.
I keep kicking around the idea of buying one, but I wanted to wait till spring, so I would know what was going on with regulations etc. And to decide where I wanted to lease on with it.
But the prices are going up pretty fast on the pre-emission 2007's, so I would probably Opt for a 2005 or 2006. Need something decent, with a good turning radius, as light as I can get. With a decent size sleeper lol.
In the 30k range, not over 500k miles. No CAT, Mercedes or Volvo engines either.
So I am looking for a very particular truck. I will find it though if I decide to make the move.
Just allot of answers I need first. -
I remember getting reimbursed for using a pocket full of quarters to wash out my trailer. My dispatcher asked for a reciept and I told him that the closest thing I had was my wet socks to prove I washed the trailer.
He told me I didn't have to send the socks in.

lol CAT wants nothing to do with their engines...

Hello im looking at going to central driving school in december, I beleve that i will have no problems with there program as i come from a truck driving company of 23 trucks as a kid, Now that the company is no longer around and im ready to proseed in a career theres no one to train me, Iv put my farshare of miles on as a kid bein the ride along, thumpin tires, fullin, checkin fluids, pre trip inspect,
Im just looking for some info on this program, and info about the company as a driver, what to expect from central?, hows the equipment,? driver policy? and any other info that you have experienced,
thanks

Well, I know the thread is long yunghauler but there is a lot of good info covered to answer your questions. I'll try to keep my response short for once.
My best advice about Central is don't set your expectations too high and you won't be disappointed but don't set them so low you get walked on. Most of what you can expect will be highly dependent on your interactions with the driver trainer and eventually your driver manager. My general experiences have been, more or less, positive for the most part. But you'll find plenty who have had horrible experiences mostly revolving around interacting with other people at Central. I don't know how far along they are but they do use some auto-routing options now to get your next load based on first-available and closest proximity - meaning you don't really have a load planner bending you over. It isn't flawless but at least you know the screwing came from the routing system and not a human.
If you need or want something, ask. Central isn't bashful about telling you to go pound sand. And a lot of people's gripes can be settled by simply assuming the onus of responsibility is on you to get things done rather than assuming Central will do it for you. You know what they say about "assume". It makes an #$$ out of you and me. -
hey i start on september 27th in salt lake city

Actually sounds like you lost your head gasket. My friend just had the same type of problems with her Pete 386 and had an Oil Analysis done and her Oil had 7 Gallons worth of coolant in it. She had Cummins do a warranty swap on her truck and she has a brand new engine. She had 3 egr's swapped. It was not the initial problem. Just wanted to give you a heads up.
