Update! Got my Class A Learners yesterday. The written was a breeze. I start class tomorrow at Roadmasters here in Tampa. Weekend classes from tomorrow till Oct 31. Then taking a week to get some affairs in order, see family and friends before I go out for the long stretch! Looks like my start day has been bumped up to Nov 8th. Can't wait to start driving!

What time does stevens have their load loaded and unloaded? Is it all at night? I have orientation October 10th and they seem to be getting a lot of applications. They are busy busy everytime I call them but are helpful in helping me. I thank you for any information from other stevens drivers about the great things about stevens for us newcomers just getting out of graduation school. Thanks again everyone.

Chad loading and unloading is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Keeping a sleep schedule is most difficult....night shift, day shift, swing shift, back to day, oops, now night driving....

I thank ya'll for your help. I am excited about whoever I go with. At times I am ready to go with a certain company and then I hear some very very bad things about that company and I get turned off. I just hope I am not being scammed. Now, I am thinking about shneider, stevens, or swift. I know swift has lots of terminals and that means for good showers. I see a lot of them running on I-59 and that is close to where I live, so I may beable to get more home time without actually using my home time. This is a good thing but great training is really important to me. Do not want to be with a trainer that does not care about training me and then when I go solo I have no clue or not confident. But, I thank ya'll for ya'lls information and just cannot wait to get out of school.

How long have you been working for stevens emulsified and tlheart? Are company drivers getting good miles with stevens right now? The recruiter told me that the company drivers are getting 3000 to 3200 a week and that they will keep my tires moving? Is this correct? thanks again everyone.

Stevens likes to claim the 3000 miles per week, that when you factor in the training trucks, is probably true for the entire fleet.
Me, I have 90,924 paid miles this year, for an approximate average of 2600 per week. your mileage will vary. -
I agree with TLea on the mileage. My average for 2010 so far is 2692 per week and that includes hometime.
I am an Alliance driver now. My mileage when a company driver was slightly lower. The difference is probably due to being there longer and getting to know the dispatchers better.
If you are a safe driver, make your deliveries on time and don't complain when you're sent to the meat patch, you will get good miles. Just remember, you will won't start out with big miles, you will 'aquire' them as you prove your dependability. When I was in Grad fleet, I averaged about 2200 miles out the gate and when I finished was around 2450-2500. Hope all this helps. -
I'm just finishing Grad Fleet (on the yard to sign a lease as we speak) and IIRC I averaged about 2200-2400 miles a week while on grad... I've had weeks with as many as 3000 and as little as 1800...
