Because there is no shortage of people jumping all over $1.00 freight and they're always the ones with the junk trucks and preaching "you can't make money unless you have a cheap truck".
Cascadia?? Should I??

Funny how the ones preaching it are the ones with the 15 year old PETE large car with a blown engine and likely spent $1,800.00 on it before it blowed up.

I drove one of the new DD15's. It is really quiet. You will hear more road noise than engine noise out of it. Power is ok. It doesn't really have a torque curve. The power is there and it does feel sluggish but it will move. Climbing hills is where it is not that good. If you get the Frieghtliner make sure that you get a better seat than the "fleet" type seats. I can not drive a freightliner without my rear or back hurting due to those cheap seats.
scatruck Thanks this. -
I think this is great. not hauling cheap freight, but the fact that diiferent folks have different idea's about what works best. it what makes the world go round. when I bought my (not cheap) but I refer to as inexpensive truck, I was glad not many wanted that bare bones model. it made the price that much better for me.I say to each his own. I have always wanted a better built & better looking truck from day one , but ya know what? ever since I was able to afford one at that time, I did not want one. I mean I did, but would not part with the money. it was just TOO much more. buying an inexpensive truck allowed me to pay cash & not feel like I have to take cheap freight as other drivers who have big payments on their large car's. it is just personal preference. look's, engine, reliability, cost of part's,repairs, resale, tax write off, e.t.c. all affects different people differently.
I would not knock any one for what ever they chose. being in my cheap truck 12 years now I can afford to buy a new 2011 & pay cash for it. it was that cheap truck that helped me get to that point. if folks do what they think is right & it works for them, then you could expect them to share their thought process with others. I made it beyond my expectations, starting out in a cheap truck. it has worked for me. I also could of lost it all too if I had major problems soon after paying cash for all my equip. as long as YOUR happy with what you have & what you are doing. if not, see what changes YOU need to make. my best to all the drivers, no matter what you are driving. if you are working, you are producing, acheiving, & can have some pride in contributing, while others may sit home & collect money thru not one ounce of labor.
scatruck, Swordsman, Rotten and 1 other person Thank this. -
Heck all of us likely started out in INEXSPENSIVE trucks and a lot today can pay cash for our trucks and trailers , but you do not see us all HARPING about the $1.00 / mile stuff as if its the only stuff around.
I get a lot of my BIG $ freight do to the fact I have newer equipment ( paid for ) and customers can rely on it getting done and not get a OH sorry Motor blew and no $ to fix it. -
You can bad mouth the videos but the people that are doing the talking, are executives in the largest fleets in the country and are for information purposes. They will not indoctrinate you to a life of bad mouthing things you do not know.
The comments about the seats, I did not do interiors but I do believe that the seats are all the same in every truck, every brand is available, and used.
All trucks come with the same base plate, do they not?
I am retired now but I went to Cat school every year, 3% of Freightliners, class eight's, came with Cats and I spent 50% of my time on them.
The ride on a truck with air ride, I have been told that Volvo is the best, and Freightliner second, if the ride is bad, change the shocks on the back of the cab and be sure the ride height is correct. Just a thought! -
Yes most trucks need the seats upgraded , I went for them instead of the CHROME on my 1st new ones.
-
volvo air ride--for me took awhile to get used to--like being on a swaying boat---and frieghtliner---are frieght shakers--i like them but definately a rough ride---w900 --i found to ride pretty decent
these were all 244 wheelbase so that might make a difference as well -
Cascadia has the top interior they have nice seats heated, swivel, all kinds of adjustment. Volvo salesman called back he may have found a 780 with cummins power, non volvo suspension, waiting on price. I love the 780 interior.

I heard that Maverick has been having to replace transmissions on them. If not transmissions....something major.
