Drama, sheer drama! The dry narrative along with the "before" and "after" pix of the leaf blower is priceless! :)

Just an old trailer that finally gave out. I'm sure there were a number of stress fractures that would have been noticed in a good inspection. Apparently no one had been crawling around under it lately. PTI's work wonders in avoiding little mishaps like this.

This is the reason a number of our customers require trailers that are not too old. Some set a 10yr limit, others as short as 7yrs.

What amazes me is that this trailer didn't break while a 3-5000# fork lift was bouncing around in it during the loading process only moments before.

One a lighter note, I've was out of the house for a total of four days before I got a run into the dreaded Northeast. I was sitting down here in Atlanta after making my delivery on Friday night (with 5hr left on my 14hrs) wondering what kind of short load I would get stuck with over the weekend.

Well, it wasn't short, but I'm not thrilled about the destination. I got myself a 1024mi run going to Piscataway, NJ. Let the fun begin!:biggrin_25513:

Can't complain too much though, that will put me at 3220mi for a 6day work week.

The thing i found most fascinating about the responses to my post, was that no one really thought that the treatment of operations to maroon a driver for that lenght of time was ridiculous. It seemed of higher interest to guess where i was located.

Which tells me two things: One - is that I must be wrong in believing that the treatment was excessive. And two, truck drivers as a whole accept this type of treatment as normal which shows a basic lack of self worth. It shows we have no value for our time, and it speaks volumes as to why the public perceives and oftentimes treats us the way that they do.

Do you think a doctor or a lawyer would accept 3 days in his office working with patients or clients without compensation? Hardly. Why are we different? Level of education? Maybe. Maybe not. We work for free because we accept those conditions and are ok with the outcome. Which says that we really don't deserve to be treated differently doesn't it.

Where i was located really makes no difference at all, except for lack of entertainment options. The compensation remains the same. And it's three days in my life (and yours should it happen to you), that you cannot get back.

ET has started a good thread here and his posts are always entertaining and well presented. Sometimes though i wonder if he shouldn't transfer to Lincoln and work in the recruiting department. That said, trainers get white-glove treatment and i suppose the really should. The dangers of having a new student in the truck and the stress that go along with it deserve perks.

To say that trainers do not get preferential treatment is just not true, because i am good friends with a CCC driver/trainer who has been with the company for almost 10 years and he will even admit as much. But probably not here. Always rosy, all the time?

Crete has treated me fairly by and large and i really don't have alot to complain about from a "big picture" perspective. And if i do have alot to complain about, who's going to listen anyway.

The red light just appeared on my Qualcomm. Somebody on the other end of that light is waiting for me to respond. Do they value their time?

Dude get over yourself. The reason why nobody posted to say "Oh Poor Driver" is because sh**t happens. We all have been treated like this once or twice. Usually after the second time we have a talk with our terminal manager and get the situation fixed so it doesn't happen exactly like that again.

The second reason is this is ET's thread. And you tried to hijack it with your whoa is me story. Truck it up or go home.

HD you are out of line. Civil gave you an answer AFTER READING your posts. He is correct in his assesment.

Did you even read the resopnse I wrote to your initial post? What more could WE do, or suggest, for you?

While we can/do/did empathise with you situation, it's life as an otr truck driver. The way we are paid is tied to the way the company gets paid. PIECE MILL pay for PIECE MILL work. Would it be nice to get paid for every minute we are not on break or in the sleeper, depends on what the rate of pay is. Why? Do you think the toatal amount paid by the hour is going to be more than what the company would pay you by the mile? NO, not good business practice. How many hours of flipping burgers would you have to work to equal the pay you make driving a truck?

OTR is not for everyone. This is not just a job but a lifestyle that necessitates the ability to adjust, addapt, and overcome.

J Jr: Ugh. I'll just stop debating this topic, as it's really going...going...gone.

I understand OTR. I happen to live it everyday, just as you do. As do most of the other drivers on this website as well. I understand that there are delays associated with this work environment. I understand that it is part of the "lifestyle".

I didn't expect a bunch of "Oh, wittle boy git his feelin'z hurt dat he had to sit in his twuck too wong". Although noted, I don't need or expect the empathy.

In my posts I tried to be professional. I did not overly bash Crete. I said that for the most part, i have been treated fairly at this company. And that is true. So don't take it so personally, whomever reads the posts.

What i will stand behind (and you should too) is that when freight is available, you should not be punished for doing your job right by being stranded at a consignee for days on end for the likes of an MT trailer. The company should step up and help. Not say: "Let us know when you get an MT trlr". As if i own the truck.

And to Cybil Jerks: This is not ET's website, although i have given him the respect he deserves for the efforts put forth in documenting his work. His disclosure of information and the synopsis of his daily schedule gives new and veteran drivers alike an accurate "real world" perspective.

This website is an open forum for any driver to voice an opinion. This thread is also.
