As the title says I am a wannabe from TN. Was an electrician for the past 7 1/2 years and am looking to make a change for the better. There is NO steady work for electricians that actually pays a decent wage. Companies are shutting down everyday and it is only getting worse. I have always wanted to be a Trucker as long as I can remember. This is a very informative site and am very glad to have found it. The number of experienced truckers here willing to help and share info with those of us new to the business is truly staggering. I've been reading this site for a couple of weeks now and am years ahead of where I would be if I had to learn the hard way. A big thanks to all here that share their knowledge and experiences, y'all are doing a huge service for us all. I also find the stories from those new to the business invaluable as they are or were where I hope to be in the near future. I hope to one day be able to lend my knowledge as so many already do here.

    JustSonny and bullhaulerswife Thank this.

    Hello and welcome!
Like you already found out, there is a huge amount of info on this site, and folk are always happy to talk, so you should be able to find a good place to train.
There are also threads here about companies in TN, so don't be afraid to ask questions and find out what you need to make your choice.
    And keep posting!

Thanks everyone... I have, since joining, been accepted to the Swift Academy in Millington, TN starting next Monday. They are very local to me and seem like a good company as far as starter companies are concerned. I am looking forward to learning a new trade and think it will be a great adventure.

Stay focused and keep a positive attitude. Just finished the school and out of 28, only 4 of us have a CDL. This is no reflection on the training, some people just are not made for driving a truck...I found that it was a good challenge and with a positive attitude, you can do it. Just avoid all the negative people and drive on!!!

    Fewe Thanks this.
