After a newbie finished his training with a trainer, he is release to his own. But in fact, he is still a greenhorn. Do dispatchers consider this factor and give him some special treatment, such as trying not to send him to big cities or as few as possible? Is this a dream?

I was in New York City going from Connecticut to New Jersey for a load in my second or third week as a solo.

I was only with a "trainer" for 3 days.

WAKE UP...... Your headed for New York, Your the new guy your going to live in these cities get used to it now. Not a big deal don't get over excited. If you have a computer and internet access google maps, take a look at where your going. Ask, Ask, Ask don't be afraid of asking questions. Call the shipper or receiver and tell them " I've never been there before whats the best way in for a truck", ask company driver that deliver there, or your dispatcher.

Leave early, take your time, make sure you know the turn off before the one you want, keeps you from missing your off ramp. Look at and check everything, question everything, like will I fit under that bridge, look for signs, like "No Trucks over 10,000" etc....

you go where the load goes. when you get some experence you can request not going to nyc or any big city that you don't want to go. in my case i loved going to boston, easy in - easy out, no fuss. most of my east-coast exp. was running to conn, maine,nh,& mass. some up-state ny, only 1 time to nyc.

NYC is not small town America but, with proper planning it can be done. Get directions, don't use a GPS!!!!!!!

The only difference in the big city's is new york has many tolls, traffic is traffic no matter where you are it just depends on what time of the day you are there. I live in a SMALL town but, don't be here at lunch time you want to scream.
