I don't think that all recruiters lie. I remember one many years ago that worked for a company that I wound up leasing on with. Everything he told me was exactly right. Unfortunately, he left that carrier about a year after I started with them. There is no doubt that there are some recruiters who will either lie or leave out some information when they are attempting to recruit new people. I have experienced that myself with a different carrier. But, I am not sure that recruiters lie any more than any other segment of the population. I think that sometimes people hear what they want to hear.

I have only been in trucking for 2 years but I can tell already that almost everyone in trucking from the dispatchers to supervisors to recruiters lie about just about everything to get their job done. You have to take it with a grain of salt just to get the position you want. You just need to be safe out there and do your job the best you can without violating any laws. And do it safely. When something better comes along, take it.

You could say the same thing about drivers. I have had drivers apply for jobs and some will tell you that they have a clean mvr and background. When it is checked they may have 3 or 4 moving violations and a felony for trafficking. It is amazing that drivers would lie, especially about things that are so easily checked. I still find it amazing that there are drivers who will steal fuel from their employers, especially when it is so easy to catch them. There are good, honest drivers as there are dispatchers and recruiters. Not everyone lies in this business, but I have friends in this business who think all drivers lie and steal. I suppose it depends on your personal experience. I do think that some drivers, dispatchers and recruiters lie, but often it is a misunderstanding from a lack of communication.

There are a lot of drivers with your attitude about moving on when something better comes along. Drivers who excel and command the higher paying wages are those that stick with it and work through any difficulties with their carrier. The grass is rarely greener on the other side of the fence. I have seen drivers move for a penny a mile only to find out when they get to the other carrier that they are not making any more than had they stayed at their current carrier. When you consider the time involved in going through orientation they may even make less due to the loss of income for a week or two.

You can pick most any segment of this industry and find fault. You can find good and bad with most anyone.

Simply put, there salesman. If they don't get a certain number of drivers to sign on there out of work.

The recruiter we had was very honest, very straightforward. I liked him and referred people to him. Sadly he's retired.

For the most part, if they told the truth, how many would make the try?

I worked for a company that told dispatcher, drivers are a dime a dozen & paying you 800. A week ,you best get some drivers in here. this is auto transport & drivers were coming & going like a swinging door because of layovers were to long some time even a week waiting for a car boat to come into a port & all this waiting is on you.now you want to transport cars check company out first.
