    Recruiters are sales people.
In the words of the famous Herb Tarlek....."I'm a salesman. I lied!"

Think about it this way. In most industries you get hired by a supervisor, a manager, a boss, a human resources officer, or a foreman; this person will likely remain in your "chain of command" if you are employed by the company. Large trucking outfits and the military are the only places I've heard of that you are "hired" by a recruiter. Recruiters typically do not remain in your "chain of command." Their function is to fill seats, units, classes, etc.

I've got two uncles who were in the military- one USMC, one Army. The advice I was given- "Don't trust a recruiter, they will tell you anything to get you to sign on the dotted line."

    So what's in a name?

The other side of the coin is how they are motivated and compensated. Is their pay tied directly to the number of recruits? Are hires just part of their job and have no effect on pay? Do they lose their job if they do not come up with recruits? Is the emphasis on hiring a good candidate or any candidate as long as the seat is filled?

They don't have to lie because most of em flat don't know! They are simply regurgitating what the company tells them to say.
Ask em more detailed questions about the equipment (engine size/brand, transmission configurations, single/double bunk, etc.) most times they are clueless!
It's not on their piece of recruiter's paperwork.

Because they are literally the scum on the bottom of the barrel of the country. They were rejected by used car lots, so they had to go somewhere. Trucking companies picked them up because of their natural ability to lie. Even if they intend to tell the truth, when they open their man-pleasers, the exact opposite flows out.

They cant help it. It's a medical condition.

I think that most salespeople are honest. If they weren't they would have a short career. I know that there are exceptions. I have also witnessed recruiters who lied or misrepresented their companies. But, I believe that most of them are honest and will tell potential recruits the truth.

I don't believe much of what they say. And I find if they are promising you something ask for it in writing and see what they say from there its quite comical actually

I have seen recruiters lie. Wanna find out for yourself??? Call up any big company and speak to two different recruiters. Nine times out of ten, two different answers. Ask questions on here. When shopping for your next job; ask the drivers before the recruiters. You'll hear both negative and positive.

I saw it at Roadmaster when I went through CDL-Training. Nearly all the recruiters had not set a foot in the truck except the instructors. They say a line of bs saying we'll get you financed for a certain percentage. Not. I saw it first hand and saw students upset over this as no yard time; time to deal with the fiance people. Anyone who has researched this industry knows once you commit the recruiters get paid.
