What I don't get is why it takes so long to get the parts that you need. You go to an automotive store and they can have the part to you the next day. You go to a truck dealer and it takes them 3-7 days to get the parts if they can even get them. What do they have to do, make it first?

I am from South Africa .We had a new Western Star heavy haul rated at 330 000lbs about 10 years ago.It had a 18sp Fuller/Eaton.The transmission packed up after a week. The list price of a new unit at the dealer was around $20k.As it was a warranty claim one was shipped directly from the transmission supplier. We arranged to collect it directly from the airport. The charges to the truck manufacturer were listed on the import customs documents we collected with the transmission.Only $4,5K. A 444% mark up on a major component. By my reckoning a dip stick tube should be be about 5000%!

it's the freight charges that make the parts so high :biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:
