    Good point. That's why I see signs in almost every state I travel through ... in case of accident ... move your vehicle off of the road.

    Apparently, one of the drivers did not do that and did not consider the fact that semis and other vehicles can cause her problems.

    Oh. Thanks for the clarification.

    Well, in that case, she was trying to respond medically, that's commenable BUT it still is important for ANYONE to watch the traffic when they have an accident.

    HFC - no argument at all.As a paramedic, one of the things my wife sees in other EMS people (fire, police, too, not just ambulance/hospital people) is a complete lack of regard for scene safety.
    Granted, with fire and police, scene safety is frequently something they have to create, but there's scene safety and there's scene safety. Within their field, they know what to do... call for backup, call for extra hoses, whatever. Typically, also, they have a few moments to prepare.. to think about the situation they are charging towards. Drop ANYbody into a emergency situation like this, and their first response is generally to check on the other people involved. The hind-brain says something like "danger is over, let training kick in", and the person never even THINKS about non-present threats.

    They never realize that the danger isn't over, it's just 5 miles away and coming fast.

    They have (probably) never been trained in scene safety - in which the very first and primary rule is: DO NOT BECOME A VICTIM. Even if they've been through the training, for most, that training is turned off with the on-the-job mindset when they are off duty.

    Still, while some small degree of fault (in my opinion) belongs to the nurse, far far, more belongs to the drivers involved. No matter the time of day, it is NEVER kosher to fly through an accident scene. Yes, I know this can result in backups (can you say I-80 near Chicago?) but I'd much rather deal with that than a complete road closure because some moron compounded the problem.

    Something ain't right here. Tail end of rush hour in Denver. One wreck happened and another lady applied her brakes, stopped and got out? You know there was brake lights everywhere and truck drivers on the CB. Yet two drivers manage to barrel through there at 65 mph??

    Not only was the second driver tailgating, the first driver wasn't scanning ahead reading traffic.

    Karinthewind, Drivers Ed consist of giving a gym or health teacher something to do. The position is not filed by a professional. That's half the problem.

    So many times i see people broke down on the side of the road. Sometimes theres 2, 3, 4 or 5 people all gathered around, and NO ONE is looking at the traffic coming at them.

    People need to think safety at all times!!!

    A lot of times people in the medical field will take out large life insurance policies.
    Myself, I have a $250,000. Also lots of disability, she may have looked at it from a family inheritance viewpoint.

    I think more Condo....... and they rush them through also. Never speak about the weight of a train, a semi, or even how to yield. Just crank them out.

    or you even see them standing IN the road....like thats gonna stop a moving vehicle esp a 80,000 pound trk that HAS NO PLACE to go ( car next to them).....i know you cant always move over, but even if they are FAR off the shoulder i still move if able, even if that means the unthinkable to some....SLOWING down and getting behind someone.........and as for them not slowing down....that aint right...i always slow down and put my four ways on immed. to help warn others....very sad indeed.....
