All drivers need to realize most all tractor and trailers now have automatic slack adjusters and a driver can adjust their brakes from the driver seat, without a wrench, and they don't need to be certified to do it! Here's how:
Truck needs to be parked on level ground.
Air pressure needs to be at max.
    Turn ignition off.
Put truck in first or reverse.
Turn key back on but don't start.
Pump brakes at 60% pressure 10 times. This will adjust your brakes 1/2 inch.
Keep pumping and around 60 lbs your audible alarm and low air pressure warning lights will activate.
Keep pumping and around 20 lbs both tractor and trailer protection valves should pop out.
By doing this, we have adjusted our brakes on both tractor and trailer, checked our vehicle low air warning system and checked the low pressure protection valves.
    Easy peezy...lemon squeezy!
