Yeah, I don't think mine is going to make it. I got a Devour since I liked the metal case. I thought they'd just put a droid in a different shell but they replaced all the innards with trash. It's sitting here rebooting itself for no reason, as usual. Never had a single problem with that cheap looking little usb aircard, though.

Is anyone using the droid x and tethering it for internet usage? I plan on getting that phone very soon.

    This info is entirely inaccurate.

I have a Verizon MiFi 2200 and it's WEP/WPA protected so NO one but myself can access it. Secondly, while there is a 5 Gigabyte limit on all of Verizon's aircards, you will never get any overage charges. I know, I've gone over the 5Gig limit countless of times. All they do is throttle you for the next billing cycle. It sucks, but it is what it is.

Here's proof that my MiFi card is secured:

Note it even tells me how many users are using my connection. Without my password they can't access my aircard.

Droid, Droid2 and Droid X are made by Motorola. HTC has the Incredible out with the Android OS.

I have the Moto Droid and it's pretty good. Does everything I need. Appears the Incredible has a bigger screen than my Droid. But relatively speaking they all do about the same thing. Just different hardware.

That's good that they thought to secure it. Their commercials suggest otherwise.

Here's proof that they will hit you with overage charges, though.

Looks like you need to give Verizon a call then.

Notice the "Allowance" column on his and yours. He is on the 5 gig cap and yours is on the unlimited.

Yes. I have not "rooted" it or tried to trick it into using the phone data-plan unlimited bandwidth. I just use the $20/per month for 2 gigs plan and the mobile (secured) hotspot function. It works very well, but I don't go over the 2G cap on it. If I need to pull some serious bandwidth then I use an uncapped USB card (from Verizon also.)

Its "Unlimited" if you use the smartphone unlimted or are on an old contract.
Its 5GB's if you have a aircard + overage fees. There are no unlimited data plans with verizon on aircards. There is with ATT tho it can get very slow.

Verizon charges $1.75/MB when you go over 5GB. Or at least they did me 2 years ago.
A typical streamed movie is about 700MB. That's about 7 movies a month if you ONLY use it for streamed movies.

I'd like to add that Xbox Live is a horrible experience on a 3G network, let alone a 1x connection(waaaay worse). Your ping is anywhere from 100 to 200 average on 3G. No first person shooters for you.

FYI if you stream movies often, Verizon will attempt to make your modem switch to 1x, which is roughly twice the speed of 56k dialup.

There's a trick to lock your modem to 3G only. You open VZAcess Manager, press ctl+d. the password is "diagvzw", click settings, change "Preferred operating mode" to HDR only. Bam, your locked on 3G. I must warn you tho. If you download too much, you will start getting denied on connection, forcing you to have to switch back to "automatic" if you want to get connected. They usually do that to me if I hit 10GB's early in a billing cycle. P.S, I can go over 5GB's for free because I am using Millenicom's contract with Verizon, which is an old contract. But I do get emails constantly from them asking me to refrain from going over 5GB's or they will cancel my account.
