Hopper, Dump O/O's & Drivers

NOT just Grain outfits that like them . A company called Sunset out of FT worth Tx picked up a contract with Transit Mix concrete and talk about low rates they are just a penny above break even . About half of the group will not talk to you on the radio the other half when they do talk I do not know what they are saying as I do not speak spanish . All I know is they fly low when driving . that is alright especially in Ark . That state has no mercy on you when it comes to speeding in a big truck from what I have been told I hit the state line and it is the speed limit but then I have slow trucks also 68or 70 MPH is maxed out .

Have i mentioned, I Love Crossing RR tracks in a twist with 80,000lbs. Why can't folks at some of these mills at least build up around them with a little gravel? I unloaded 4 loads today at a new mill and i had to cross 3 sets of tracks to get to the pit and i bet they all were at least 2 1/2 inches high,thats just plain hard on tires, no-way around it!

 

Are you still happy with your DR 444's,WH. If i have to haul into this mill much more,I may be in the market for a set myself

 

Thanks WH,thats the info i was looking for.I haul off of mostly farms with gravel/dirt roads also,and if those tires don't lodge rocks too bad,i would like to try 'em out. Have you had a chance to put 'em on soft/spungy ground yet?

 

I was told that somehow they were to only haul five loads and that turned into 35 loads hehehe. I was also told they made there own unload number up cause they didnt know they neaded one. So they heard another driver on a differnt channel tell the other truck what to unload on and the amigos had free rain then lol. But cheap freight goes unpunished lol. Ive tried looking there numbers up but no cigar are they really legit???

 

I can answer question #2- center of front axle to middle of rear axles. Not sure about question #1. That must be a big ole hopper! What kind of gross weight does Nebraska let you have with that?

We got about a .1" of rain late yesterday afternoon, just enough to stop the corn. Missed the rain last night, but it is a slow day. Farmer I'm hauling for had to move to a new field several miles away, so I'm stalled at the moment. Corn I've been hauling has been fairly dry, mostly 16-17 moisture, with much better test weights than last year, I found that out quickly.
