I am a recent CDL graduate who paid my own way to school and owe nothing to the school . I would prefer to be home more , would prefer to work for a company who has a better record of safety and allowing drivers to use their discretion on what that means. I have a CDL-A and HAZMAT.

I'm all set to start orientation for werner in PA by next week. However, i was looking some times for other opportunities with what I considered more respected , safe, and reliable companies. That led me to SNI as my second choice.
The starting time are nearly the same so that is not a huge factor to me.

I have been offered a regional route for SNI that would put me home two days a week. Their base training AND orientation would take two weeks before I could start on my own route. I am not sure with no experience that this is even a good idea.

werner has offered me a National van route that would put me out something like 14-17 days/ 2 home. Their training AND Orientation would take nearly 4-5 weeks. The training seems more substantial but would take longer and put me farther away from a real paycheck and away from home longer at a time.

I really do not feel comfortable "stringing" both companies along and would like to make a decision this week . As mentioned before, the starting date and pay are both comparable. SNI could put me in my own truck sooner, and home more often. Werner appeared to have better training period.

I have really struggled to make the right decision because I want to go to work for one company and stay there. I do not want to spend my career bouncing around and always looking for a better place to work. I want to make the correct decision the first time.

    Thanks in advance!

Two weeks training and orientation then on your own? For a recent grad with no experience that does not sound realistic at all. You may want to verify that. Not saying you're not capable, but just doesn't sound right to me.

I myself am going with Werner and will be attending orientation on the 2nd of October in Fontana, Cali. but it's your choice man most people on here hate werner so they trash it a lot and other companies as well go with what you researched and think what will be best your you.

i don't think 10 days is enough really , we didn't have chance to drive that often at school to put us in the road that fast , and in the others hand you have werner that pay you $350 and use you for 8 full weeks . confused ??????

Also be careful with what recruiters say. Sometimes it is not the most truthful.

on the level with any company you go with its going to be 3-4 day orientation and 4-8 weeks with some kind of a trainer. then you will get your own truck and go from there . I myself went to Swift and am returning to them next week. I had a good experiance with them and i figured i could go back.
