Am interested in speaking to a lawyer about this leasing program, my husband thought it was the way to go and now he is hostage to the road without being able to send money home for our life. We looked at this in the beginning as "deployment" (he is a vet) and expected to not see each other right off in the beginning. We did not expect to make money for the lease only and have absolutely no money for rent or our life. I don't need a lot in life but I don't think a home, food and good health are asking to much from our employers in America.
I have read message boards all over and for Trans Am word for word it's the same year after year. How do they get away with this rip off? A land lord can't take away your lively hood, how come an employer can do that? This economy is horrible right now and no one knows when it will get better, my husband was out of work for a year before he went to school and trained to drive.
Do people realize that if the truckers don't drive for a week it will shut down America? I say it's time for a strike boys & girls, and God forbid any immigrants drive over the roads. Do you realize there is a green card program for these immigrants so they can drive? How insane , see below....sign me, missing my hubby but proud of him too.

NOTICE MARCH 2009
We are not able to accept any new applications from truck drivers until further notice.
The reason for this is American Employers must assist American people who need employment as a first priority.
For the last 10 years, the American trucking industry has had a huge shortage of drivers.
The Global Financial Crisis occurred and many Americans who lost their jobs turned to trucking.

I haven't worked for Trans-Am but I do think your poll should include "hell no", "no way in hell" and "have you lost your #### mind?!?

I currently lease with trans am, in the past 6 months i have averaged 289.00 a week. and now with the cost of fuel i am making even less. their fuel surcharge does not keep up with the rising cost. Hopefully i will be able to leave this horrible company soon.
pinballwizard Thanks this. -
$289.00 a week to driver OTR, and have the responsibilities of ownership basically? C'mon guys quit making the same mistakes everyone else has made, I live in Florida, renowned for our bad economy, I drive local, which some will tell you has no money in it, but I have made 14,500 in my first 4 months this year, and as long as no illnesses or any unforseen problems arise, I will hit about 45,000 this year and be home every night and have the weekends off. Simply put don't give up hope out there, get out of this nightmare you guys are in and keep your head up, there still are good jobs to be found, hell I'm successful in Florida right now and that's saying a lot.
