Didn't mean anything by it. I have an application ready, but if I don't have a solution for parking during hometime, there's no point in applying. There are a few trucking parking locations I see on GA155 and GA20. For now I'll assume that they would be acceptable locations.

How is it driving for MAY? Are you getting good miles?

 

How are you doing brother? Good to see you are looking into coming to work for may trucking! To respond to your question, nothing is set in stone. We have many drivers from GA of which find authorized parking for their home time. Many of them actually take the truck home (permitting they have room to park a truck) That is something to work our with your Driver Manager remember all things are negotiable .

I most attracted to MAY because it seems you keep your equipment pretty current. I equate that to less breakdowns, and that means more miles. Efon says he runs the refer side and is getting 2800 -3500 mpw. I'm interested in running the refer fleet as well.

Here's a question for you: I think I read in a MAY post somewhere that there are no APU's installed on your trucks and the reason being is that because the tractors get rotated out so often it didn't pay. I need to run an inverter for a CPAP machine. How big of an inverter will MAY allow? Will I be able to run things like a small fridge, coffee pot, etc?

I prefer to prepare my own meals. T/S food is not economical and it's difficult to watch the weight eating fast food.

Am I right about the APU?

 

Inverter size, i think, is about 1500 watt max. That is
installed at the repair shops in Brooks or Layton. They will
want to see the Inverter first to give it to official OK.
Most CPAPs will run on the small lighter plug-ins, but that
depends on your machine. They will install your inverter for free, but you need to supply the wiring and hardware to do the installation. They will also require a 80 to 100 amp
in-line fuse, so you will need to get one of them.
Should have no problem running a small microwave (700-1000) watt or a coffee pot. You might have to start the truck to run the oven tho.

 

FYI: i had a 2500 watt inverter when i worked at May, noone had said anything to me regarding size.

 

Thanks, I made a note on the fridge. I had the sleep study about 3 years ago. A letter from my doctor won't be a problem at all.

Out of curiosity, how did you work out the sleeping arrangements with the student's CPAP? Did he haul the unit into the upper bunk with him?

I've been wondering about that since I started pursuing this new career.
