So, you have the same overwhelming feelings I do about all the info on here? Crazy how many people are so negative. I guess that is what most of these forums are for anyway. Have you picked a company yet? Anyway, thanks for the advice. Hope your career goes well.

Just finished my first week at Central Tech. It has been a great experience so far, and have really been learning a lot. Next week we go to the yard and I am really excited about that. Still planning on going with WSE after graduation. I have heard so much good and bad on here about different companies I have decided to go with the one that seems like the best fit for me and that is WSE. I truly think attitude is 90% of any job, because there is no thing as a perfect job or a perfect company. I think it will be what I make it and I intend to make the most of it. Work hard, stay positive, and you can laugh your way through many bad experiences if you look at them through eyes of humor instead of bitterness. Just my two cents. Terribee can you tell me how many miles you are averaging now? Does 2300 a week sound close?
    Thanks!

I am being completely honest you will only see them miles when your with your trainer or unless your an O/O , I talk with lots of people from Shaw new and veteran drivers all nice people positive attitudes and they are telling me the same thing its not just me who is getting low miles and sitting lots of the time. The veterans tell me that it was great until around 07/08 and wse just lost lots of accounts and with the economy it just never regained it self and just as I started here they lost another huge account from Tyson chicken. Is it a good personable company yes no doubt but don't listen to your recruiter they tell you what you want to here to join in and don't trust the little adds they put in the trucking magazines as for I had a talk with a big wig in Shaw about it and he explained it was a marketing technique and that 500 mile average is for each load not for each day! Good luck with your school and graduation. Remember your trainer from what ever company you choose will be the one to prepare you for the real world and that driving school is designed to only teach you the basics so that you can pass the road test. The biggest transition from school to real world I personally had was they teach you every maneuver with the tandems all the way back and most of the time you al be driving with your tandems toward some changes everything on technique but that's why I say listen to your trainer out here and you should be fine its not rocket science like so
e of these people make it seem. Good luck.

I left WSE in Dec. after 3 1/2 yrs. They screw me as an O/O cut pay 3 times in 2009. Messed my DAC up said accidents that wasn't my fault were preventable ! Now can't get a job anywhere! It was good till the fuel crunch and they either changed upper management or they left ! Lost a lot of contracts. I was lucky to avg 500 miles a week when I left. They put me as an O/O in debt $55,000 in the last 2 years ! Now they screwed my record up and government want do anything about it! Drove for 17 yrs., 7 yrs. as O/O and they're the only thing on my DAC and they screwed it up. My MVR is clean, no reportables, nothing on it. But when anybody gets a ref. they screw me. I have even sent them the statement as to the accident that was in TN as no fault, but they tell everybody it was my fault, yet never charged me with it !
    I WOULDN"T RECOMMEND THEM !

New drivers are lucky and I mean lucky to get 2200 miles per week thats why I quit after only being there 3 months. I spent more time sitting than driving.
