Do you not have a responce to what 074344 said? It seems you are happy there. Do you have a different take or is he correct?

    Started with SNI Sept. 2007.

I've missed bonus twice...both summer quarters. Idle time this quarter just ended was 51%. My DBL gave me the required talk about idle time. My OOR was 5.1%, so if you're driving 12% OOR, there is something wrong with you. True, on any given short load you may cover more unpaid miles, but quarter after quarter, I'm usually between 5 and 6 percent. My overspeed is always less than 1%.

I replied that I will be comfortable and that during the summer I don't care about my idle time. Said the same thing last year. I'm still here.

My bonus in 2Q this year was almost $800. Yes, some pay has been cut. But thus far, not base mileage pay. No raises either, but no cuts.

However, received the enrollment package for benefits for 2010, and noticed they have eliminated spousal insurance IF they are employed and have access to insurance through their employer. Rates and deductibles have gone up a bit as well.

I think the DBL can and does make all the difference. My performance quarter over quarter indicates my willingness to operate within their guidelines to the best of my ability....exactly what I am paid to do.

Oh, and nevermind that they paid for my CPAP machine and all subsequent supply provisions. In my case, considering the severity of my sleep apnea, the CPAP may very well have saved my life (if not now, perhaps later).

Wayne Lubner...was he "forced out"? That's speculation. He is leaving at the end of the year to start a consulting business. Yes, he will be missed, no question.

In closing, every industry is making cuts. Some companies have cut mileage pay for drivers. SNI hasn't. I communicate with my DBL, send in my mac 18s, submit my paperwork promptly, etc. SNI is far from perfect, but compared to the stories I hear from other drivers at other companies, I'll take what I've got for right now and be thankful.

Actually going to toss this in there before someone else does, lol.

SNI didn't cut rates to its existing drivers, however it lowered its pay rates for incoming new drivers.

    Baack Thanks this.

    Just my .02

Modesto, CA. Smack dab in CA's central alley. 1 out of every 6 people is unemployed. 1 in 10 of those no longer have unemp. because it ran out. Just for a quick reality check for the op.

From me, you want more pay, be better than those around you, & be able & willing to do stuff others can't. Be relyable, drama free, early is on time, look professional, & be productive with your downtime. Even big companies know who their all stars are, be one of them.

im going to schneider driver orientation on feb 14. their recruiter was vague on several issues. like layover pay, detention pay, unloading pay.. how much dollarwise,he wasnt sure, how much of it is driver unload. he said pay is 37c a mile, incl 2c per diem, but after 90 days the 2 c per diem goes away, but you can tell your driver mgr to keep it. how often do you go to ny city/ no extra pay/. ive been driving 14 yrs.. is recruiter trying to seem a lemon. ..hair follicle testing..

Call and ask to talk to your driver business leader ('DBL') and get the facts and answers to your questions directly from him or her instead of the recruiter. I think detention or layover kicks in after 24 hours?

SNI is also installing new electronic on-board recorders on the truck, so you pretty much are forced to run legal.

I dont know about unloading either. I want to say that a good chunk of your loads will be no touch, but I could be very wrong. Either way, you should get paid for doing the unloads if you have to.

Per diem...you should be able to opt out of that from day one, if you want to.

Not sure about New York either. You didn't say what you were hired on as...48 states, a certain region...what exactly did they hire you for? I know that it seems their drivers on the western region board run I-5 most of the time.

I've been back with SNI since October. I've done exactly 1 driver unload, and that was just jacking the skids off the truck and sorting about 5 of them. My DSR later told me I could have gotten a lumper authorization. Oh well...

My DBL team seems more interested in making sure I follow the fuel optimizer than anything else. There was only one other comment they had and that was a perceived service failure, but it was only because I forgot to do the PU info reply...

Volume going from 3.4 to 3.7 is gross revenue, not net profit. The beauty of the free market system is that you are "free" to leave and take a job elsewhere, where you don't feel that there is a sinister plot in play to keep the "little man" down. Or you could get your own authority, buy a few trucks, hire a few drivers and hope that they don't wreck your equipment, causing you to be sued, and losing everything you had invested. Oh, and then you could not give yourself a raise, or the drivers that no longer worked for you. Arm chair quarterbacks need to play the game to see if they can handle the hits! Good luck with your one man boycott.

lol. So...I don't know if you realized this or not. But the post you replied to was made back in February of 2009. This thread itself has not been replied to at all since this past Feb. Just pointing out the obvious.
