Well not much to talk about today. We did more driving on heavier traffic roads today. I did pretty good. No curbs or hits on anything lol. Im still having a blast. It has been alot of fun learning to drive. I think they are going to start on our backing skills by next week.

Thats great Smurfette. Im sure you will have fun. Youre schooling will be a little more fast tracked then mine is. Longer days but shorter length for you. One thing I think is different also... I actually test through the DMV for the road test but I think your school has like a teacher that can pass/fail you. It can be alot to take it all at once but it wont take long before everything clicks and you go "oh,yeah!". Once that happens you wont even think about stuff, it will become second nature. My first day I couldnt shift a gear without backing off the clutch, revving and then attemting the gear again. I just finished my first week of driving and I barely grind a gear at all anymore. I think it sucks at first because your brain is trying to process it all which screws up the needed timing to complete a shift. After you learn it your brain no longer processes it just does it.

Today I drove all city driving in the city of Niagara Falls. It was definately... WOW. It was intense and fun. I now see why "4 wheelers" are freaking idiots. Those turns were tough but I only curbed it once and my repass through I didnt curb any.

Tommorow we are spending the day all on backing. I cannot wait! I will let you all know how I do.

Quick question: Do u have to stay out the whole 28days with your trainer or can you test out earlier than your 28days..?? Or do you have to do the whole 28days....

Well I remember when I started driving stick. I would watch the speed and watch the tac and just trying to drive and pay attention to that as well as others around me was nerve racking but after a couple weeks I had it down then like any teenager I did other things while driving lol. I'm not all that worried more totally excited than anything else. I cant wait to get out of Phx and be out on the road.

According to CDL rules, states must test on at least 1 angle back.
NY chooses to just use the blind side parallel park.
Most states want you to do a 90 degree see side back.
When CDL first came out in the early 90s states did not know how to set up.
I took my test in Baton Rouge LA, and they tested on all options.
So I had to do see side ally dock, serpentine, straight back, parallel park.

Saturday we spent the day with another instructor doing offset backs and later parallel parks. I did pretty good on them. I then took the liberty to go back home and visit my wife for the rest of the weekend since I had the opportunity. Im only a 2.5 hour drive from home. Was good getting a home cooked meal for a couple days and getting to snuggle up with my wife for a night.

Today we did more city driving. Everyone did pretty good. We also stopped, did a straight back and a parralel park. My instructor said I did #### good today. Our road test is in 10 days and while I feel I have been doing well, I am still nervous about the road test. All it takes is one little screw up and its over. My worst problem today was one right hand turn that I was setting up for. It was narrow roads so I had to use my left lane as well as use the oncomming traffic lane to make the turn. I missed the 5th gear shift and by the time I got it in I was a little late on the set up and while I almost made it... I had to have someone backup on the street I was turning on to to make the turn. If I cut my wheel like 2 seconds sooner I woulda had it. That woulda been an auto fail on my test. Other then that one time I did really well. We did the route 3 times. All it takes though is that one time and thats why im nervous.
