My truck came with a c motor and I really liked it, 600hp to the rear wheels and 6 mpg. The problem is this week I broke a crank, long story short motor is junk. I need to put another motor in. I had a 359 with a B motor in it and it ran about as good as this one did but was almost a full mpg less. I am trying to decide what to put in this truck. I know you can get more hp out of a B than a C but can you get the mileage too? Can I put the c pump on a B engine and impove mileage? Maybe put a b/c combination together and get the best of both worlds?

the b and c are the same except the c had wider bearings to eliminate the midlife bearing change of the b model. and im thinking the injection pumps in the pumphousing are a few mm larger. more hp out of a b than a c model? not if you change the cam timing on a c.

I thought the first C motors, the foot feed was fly by wire and the rest was mech.

This is a full mechanical fuel system. It is a 96. I was told the guy before me had extensive work done to the pump so maybe it was converted to full mechanical.

Cat offered the C-model in a mechanical and electronic platform. The electronic model is referred to as a PEEC.
