I am new here and maybe this was already discussed or answered and if so, then I apologize, but I have a garmin nuvi gps for cars and want to upgrade to a trucker version. My question is, I heard someone say they didnt have to buy a new unit just get the trucker map version. Is this true and where can I find this version? Thanks.

This is a common question. However, to my knowledge, Garmin has not released their trucking version software to any other models beyond the 465T.
