I was a flatbedder for 2yrs. Roehl's claim 2 fame was," more home time".
They couldn't get me home if their careers depended on it. Many times I was within 30 miles of home and had the required 11 to 14 days out and they insisted on giving me another load,( no) was not an option. I tried all of there drivers programs; 7 out 7 home, 5 out 34hrs off, national, they got me off on time, but getting home it was like pulling teeth. It got to the point of having meetings with mngmnt, that didn't help. The mnger's were
ex-drivers but they always sided with the dispatcher. Many other problems.
I could go on, but if you r looking 4 a good trucking co., DO NOT GO TO ROEHL.
Roehl, summing it up.

I'm guessing because they want to stay as ex-drivers and not find their lazy azzes back in a truck by bucking the old company line...

They have a drop yard in Darlington, SC. Guess I have been pretty lucky as I have only had one time where I requested to be home and didn't make it on time, other than that they have been pretty good to me thus far.
-
I double that. They haven't missed yet. This run is close, I have a dental appt at 10am on the 21st. I'll be in Ellenwood at around 6am! LOL Don't know hows they done it buts I knows they done it! lol.

They have been good with getting me home on time. I stay out a month at a time though, so that might help with it.
-
Just wait till the honeymoon is over there rook and when they need a favor and you are "the only driver that can get it done " then you can see why all of the old guys are getting out of the bussiness
-
Well I ain't no "rook". I have traveled over 1 million miles across 5 continents and if they should happen to "need a favor" I really have no problem with that. I enjoy my job and understand that #### ain't rosy all the time as a truck driver but I try to have a good attitude about it and in my opinion that is about 95% of the fight. The lack of common sense and the pride of doing a good job even when no one is looking along with the fact that most people just suck at driving dooms the majority of folks entering this business.
-
If you are 30 miles from the house and due for home time go home and tell them to stick thier load up thier #####. Grow some balls people.
-
Travelled miles and Driven miles are not the same thing. And I thought roehl was a good company right up till the day they fired me for being Honest. I could have lied or just kept my mouth shut and they would have had no idea. And as for attitude and doing favors I never turned them down for anything when they called I hauled. 4-7 weeks out and 3-4 days off. 1 minor thing and good bye.
