I've had a CDL for over twenty years, however, I've only driven for about 8 of those years. In those 8 years my driving experience has been limited to ready mix trucks and tranfer trucks, no OTR experience. So, my question is: What is the best route for me to take to begin driving OTR? Should I go to school?

I guess you have a "B" class cdl,if that's the case,I guess school is your only option. If you have a class "A",you should be able to get work with some of the big outfits.BEWARE,do your home work, they will all promise you the moon, and watch you starve in the process.Good luck

I agree depends on if u have a
    A or B class cdl

A = you can get work with no school maybe a refresher course or nothing

B = school and training for sure

I have a class A with doubles-triples and tanker endorsments, but don't have a clue to the in's & out's of driving over the road.

I'd say try to get on with a training company, be it Swift, Schneider, May, etc. If you have some trailer experience, they may only make you take a refresher and go with a trainer. BOL.
