Oh sorry, the RV thing won't quite work--that's located in a different area where truck and trailer are not allowed.
If you could improve anything about the interior of your semi truck what would it be?

Boy did you ask a loaded question! I like most would like to see a comfortable sleeping area to relax after a day of driving. fridge and microwave hookups standard would be nice and doable. an area for a flat screen TV rather than the current niche they have now. and most of all safety. keep safety in mind when ever you are designing this as I really like coming home to my wife and I like seeing all of my friends on the road coming home in one piece.

Maybe you should talk to somebody who does small boat design...I bet you could, in the space of a phone booth, a full LAV....like in a sailboat...toilet...but the bucket/bag style would be best...a shower 12 volt pump, and maybe a 5 gallon container, and a simple heater (kinda like a fish-tank heater, but if it was OEM, I bet RV's make a tiny heater) and a wall-mounted sink that folds ot of the way...like on a boat...and a simple collection system. Would make many folks happy...a warm shower, now walk to a toilet, and tiny sink...might help in cooking.heck...(might be worth getting rid of the passenger seat to move stuff around inside)..put some storage right there...make space...Just a thought. On the side...you could mount a tiny food prep area...a counter...since many drivers cook in the cab these-days....and an built in fridge under it. Maybe have a hardwired high amp toater oven...simple on a factory truck.

i was thinking that with all the moder tech available, updating a truck into the modern age wouldnt be too hard. things i would do:
- put cameras embedded underneath each mirror(pointing in the direction the mirror faces), fed to a customizable display the driver can see. with smart software installed, the display could highlight cars, zoom in/out, provide night vision, etc. Intelligent placement of such cameras could eliminate blindspots and make backing much safer, esp if there was a linked camera(s) on the back of each trailer. an ability to record 24 hrs of ongoing footage would be a great thing to have if an accident/vandalism/etc occurred.
- the batteries they are using in hybrid/electric cars are getting smaller and smaller. they cost a lot now, but costs are coming down. imagine what you could power in a truck during downtime with one of these. recharged by the engine when moving.
- the HUD is a great idea.
- voice activated everything. automated voice warning systems for everything.
- the radar systems used in luxury cars would be really helpful.
- lets add in some FLIR and night vision optimization for the the drivers HUD

Gauges are not grouped together, air system, application suspension, etc. should all be together. base model seats are uncomfortable. shelving doesn't work together, have to remove drawer to put in cooler. Hanging closet to short. factory wired inverters should be standard equipment in this day and age. how about a drivers side box that opens even when changing the lock cylinder out (2011 Pro Star) How about factory air conditioning that works after 36k-50k miles and doesn't need replaced. Capability to fold upper bunk up. Not bolted down in Pro Star. How about a small place to stand for short people trying to wash windshield off, instead of standing on tire. I like the idea of HUD system. Loose the ugly condo style overhead. Only 2 windows? no vents for fresh air.

I would have to say that Angelina Jolie permanently affixed in the passenger seat in a 2 piece bikini stirring my coffee while telling me how sexy I looked driving would do if for me.

Hi everyone,
I'm Steve's friend and also taking part in the Interior design studio. My name is Robert, and I wanted to thank all of you who posted for your help. We took down some bullet points that seemed to stand out:
-BATHROOM!!!
-Storage, storage, and more storage
-Grouping Gauges or Using LCD screens
-Stove Top
-Move AC so it doesn't blow on hands
-Movable or even Removable Passenger seat
-A closet thats actually tall enough to hang a shirt
-Heads up display
-Back up cameras
-Multiple Privacy Curtains
-Individual Climate Control
I also have a couple of questions for you:
-What do you think about beds and desks that fold up into the wall for more space?
-What do you think about in-truck Wi-Fi like what is available on the new F-150 small trucks?
-What belongings do you usually take with you? (What all has to be stored, and what do you need to be able to access while driving?)
And of course any other issues you think of.
Thanks again to all of you, if you'd like to see some of the work we've done to get an idea of what we'll be up to, my portfolio is online at: coroflot.com/robertliddellbillandlori, simplyred1962 and djtrype Thank this. -
Why some of you double-clutch is beyond belief....
In heavy traffic......pick a gear and crawl......You won't get there any sooner speeding up and fighting the pace.....simplyred1962, I am medicineman, Quinid and 1 other person Thank this. -
If the cabinets are generaly all the same width why not mount them on securing brackets that run up the side of the sleeper ? That way you could easily move them around or easily & cheaply redesign you storage ??? They could support each others weight & all you would have to do is tighten four screws or bolts in each unit to stop them moving & squeeking etc ? If you dont want a wardrobe then a few minutes & its out & replaced with something else ? The storage under the bunk is usefull but the central part of it would be better as a big pull out draw too so that you dont have to lift up the whole bunk ? On European cab overs some have refridgerated draws under the bunk maybe that would be usefull here for food storage ? Big windows in the back rather than silly small vents would be a huge inprovement too for ventilation while sleeping, With mesh of course to keep those pesky bugs out lol
