    Hello, Fellas.
Do any of you haul silage, and does that pay by the ton or what?

Just curious because we're harvesting in Colorado right now, but its mostly between friends so we don't know the true market rate for hauling.

I've never hauled silage, but there's a guy on the forums that goes by KWforage from Wisconsin that does, you might look him up and ask him.

Next week for a change I haul milo to a ethanol plant. I haven't been there in over a year. Still probably end up hauling wheat at the end of the week.

Not yet R.W.,they said they had the wire back-ordered:biggrin_25513:,so i'm running without one,but i don't like it. I'm just keeping a closer eye on the water and oil temps.

How are yeilds holding up for folks in your area? The yeilds are all over the place here for corn, it's anywhere from 45-185bu./acre,depending on the pollination stage the corn was in when the really bad hot weather hit them:biggrin_25513:,it's been tough on folks. I took a load of corn to Debruce in Maceo yesterday and got there at 8am and there was only ONE truck on the pit,and not another truck in sight,I was not at the terminal for more than 20 minutes max, i have never seen anything like that since i started hauling, smack dab in the middle of harvest:biggrin_25524:,farmers must be putting it all in their bins, with yeilds being down and prices so strong, their holding onto all of it. Nobody has started running beans yet.

Wind blew here all day too, wheathauler.Good luck with that itchy milo:biggrin_2556:.Sounds like your still staying busy, though. What about the beans, have they started harvesting them in your neck of the woods yet?

LPK. Here in Va trucks get anywhere from 50 to 70 an hour. It depends if you have a tractor trailer or a straight truck. Also how long the bed is. Most of the custom guys in here don't have trucks so they hire them.

Harvesting some beans but not many yet. Beans are all over the place in growing stages. Some don't have leaves, some do, and they are still watering some. I believe it is going to be a strange bean harvest. I figured I would be busy hauling elevator to elevator with beans but not so sure now.

I've been real busy hauling but still wonder if it isn't going to crash one of these days.

MN got hit from anywhere from 4 -10 inches of rain. Man I tell ya the fields are swamped. Looks like the harvest here is gonna be delayed for another week or so. Everything is so ready to be picked also.

They probably don't stock many pyro wires, I'm sure most fleet trucks don't have them nowadays, and newer drivers probably have no idea what one is! :biggrin_2559: The yields around here have been all over the place as well, I've heard as low as 17 bu (yes, corn) and as high as 195. But I'd guess that about 130-140 would catch most of it. Its been the same up here, no trucks in line, just drive in, drive out most of the time. I think its both due to lower yields and farmers having more on farm storage now. Prices have been crazy, who ever heard of $5 corn and $11 beans in the middle of harvest? I would bet fertilizer prices are going up as we speak...

SB we had a good week mostly. We're getting close to half done. Combines having trouble staying together. 1 has unloading augur issues so far evading all efforts to diagnose and fix. 1 caught on fire friday. Fines gathered right at the back of the rotor caught up. We had to drive it to the shop and get a water hose to it. Now it's blowing the ignition fuse. The loading pads and roads are dry so that's a big plus over last year. Yields are down. Consultants blaming it on hot weather late July /Aug. during flowering.
